Latitude Hotel Group enters Tanzania with 80-Room Kigamboni resort

The outdoor performance venue accommodating up to 5,000 people represents a significant differentiator in East Africa’s hospitality landscape.

TANZANIA – Latitude Hotel Group has partnered with Sanaabiz Investments Limited to develop its first Tanzanian property, an 80-room resort in Dar es Salaam’s Kigamboni district, with preliminary works slated to begin in 2026 and opening targeted for 2028.

The resort will follow the group’s successful operating model established in Kampala, Lusaka and Lilongwe, bringing proven hospitality concepts to Tanzania’s commercial capital.

Located near South Beach, mangrove forests and the Nyerere Bridge, the property is positioned within Kigamboni’s emerging tourism corridor, accessible from Dar es Salaam’s city center and poised to capture growing demand for quality accommodation.

The development will feature standard rooms and two-bedroom apartments, conference facilities, cafés and restaurants, a spa, retail space, a visitor and information center, picnic areas and camp sites.

Executive Chairman Nick Brown stated: “We have waited for a long time to locate the right property in Tanzania and the Kigamboni project ticks all the boxes for a Latitude-designed resort.

The outdoor performance venue accommodating up to 5,000 people represents a significant differentiator in East Africa’s hospitality landscape.

Further, industry data suggests event venues with such capacity can generate multiple revenue streams through concerts, festivals, corporate gatherings and cultural events, extending beyond traditional accommodation income.

Additionally. the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) facilities will attract corporate travelers and international businesses, expanding Dar es Salaam’s business tourism segment.

The resort’s diverse facilities cater to multiple market segments simultaneously, from leisure and family tourists to large events and corporate groups. This diversification reduces dependence on any single traveler demographic and creates year-round revenue opportunities.

More importantly, the development aligns with Tanzania’s sustainable tourism initiatives, incorporating eco-friendly practices that balance luxury with environmental responsibility.

For hospitality investors across the Middle East and Africa, Latitude’s Kigamboni entry demonstrates how integrated resort models combining accommodation, MICE infrastructure and large-scale event spaces can capture value in emerging markets.

As Dar es Salaam strengthens its position as East Africa’s business gateway, properties offering versatile facilities will attract both regional travelers and international visitors seeking comprehensive hospitality experiences in one of Africa’s most dynamic coastal destinations.
