New Capital International Airport takes off with direct Saudi Arabia flights

This new service dramatically improves air connectivity for this rapidly developing administrative and residential zone, providing a vital direct link for government traffic, business travelers, and residents to a major Saudi gateway.

EGYPT/SAUDI ARABIA – Capital International Airport has launched its first scheduled international flights, a new Air Cairo route to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking a pivotal step in Egypt’s strategy to diversify air traffic, ease pressure on Cairo’s main hub, and stimulate regional tourism and hospitality growth.

Strategic Aviation Diversification to Unlock New Tourism Corridors

The inauguration of six weekly flights to King Abdulaziz International Airport directly implements a government plan to maximize new infrastructure and redistribute passenger load.

A primary objective is alleviating chronic congestion at Cairo International Airport, particularly during peak seasons for Umrah, Hajj, and holidays.

Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, emphasized that operating flights from Capital International is central to utilizing modern assets, facilitating travel movement, and building a more resilient and sustainable national aviation network.

This strategic decongestion is designed to improve overall travel efficiency and service quality for all passengers, a critical factor for tourism competitiveness.

Enhancing Hospitality Access to a Key Growth Zone

The airport’s location is strategically pivotal, serving the New Administrative Capital (NAC) and surrounding governorates.

This new service dramatically improves air connectivity for this rapidly developing administrative and residential zone, providing a vital direct link for government traffic, business travelers, and residents to a major Saudi gateway.

For the hospitality sector, it establishes a modern, efficient entry point designed to attract inbound visitors and business events directly to the NAC region.

This improved accessibility supports hotels, resorts, and conference centers in the area, integrating them into international travel itineraries more seamlessly.

A Hospitality-Focused Launch for a Critical Market

Operated by the ministry’s low-cost carrier, Air Cairo, this route integrates airline expansion with new airport readiness to offer competitive and affordable travel. Stimulating traffic on the vital Egypt-Saudi corridor is crucial for tourism.

The inaugural flight was celebrated with a special passenger reception hosted by the airport’s Public Relations Department, providing streamlined procedures and on-ground support, a hospitality-focused approach to launching this new gateway service.

By providing a convenient and often more affordable alternative to flying from central Cairo, the service is poised to significantly increase passenger numbers in both directions.

This directly feeds the tourism and hospitality sector by improving logistics for a crucial visitor market, including religious tourists, business travelers, and families, thereby supporting occupancy and economic activity across a broader geographic area within Egypt.
