SAUDI ARABIA – Hilton has nearly doubled its footprint in Makkah with the simultaneous opening of two new properties, significantly expanding accommodation options for pilgrims and travelers.
The openings include the DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah and the landmark Wirgan Al Noor, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which becomes the brand’s largest hotel worldwide.
A Landmark Entry for the Tapestry Collection Brand
The 1,386-room Wirgan Al Noor represents a strategic milestone as the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in the holy city and its new global flagship by size.
Located near the historic Hira Cave and within a 15-minute drive of the Masjid Al Haram, the hotel is designed as a serene retreat with views of the Holy City.
True to the brand’s ethos, it blends contemporary style with a strong sense of place, offering amenities that include an all-day dining restaurant, a coffee shop, two ballrooms, eight meeting rooms, a fitness centre, and a kids club.
Complementary Offering with Signature Warmth
The second opening, DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah, provides 381 guest rooms and suites in the Al Aziziyah district, positioned just five minutes from the Sacred Mosque.
The property delivers the brand’s signature warm welcome, complete with its famous chocolate chip cookie, and homely service.
It features an all-day dining restaurant serving international and local cuisine, a lobby coffee shop, a fitness centre, and flexible meeting rooms catering to both spiritual pilgrims and business travelers.
Strategic Growth in a Key Religious Tourism Hub
Both properties are owned by Wirgan Hospitality and managed by Hilton, underscoring the group’s asset-light growth strategy in a critical market.
Mohamed Lotfy, Cluster General Manager for both hotels, stated that the properties are thoughtfully designed to offer comfort, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere for guests visiting the Holy City.
He emphasized the teams’ commitment to delivering a warm and memorable experience for every visitor.
This dual launch capitalizes on the sustained demand generated by religious tourism, a sector central to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambitions of hosting millions more visitors annually.
By introducing a differentiated brand portfolio, from the select-service warmth of DoubleTree to the unique, large-scale character of the Tapestry Collection, Hilton strategically caters to a broader spectrum of travelers.
This expansion not only strengthens Hilton’s competitive position in one of the world’s most significant religious tourism destinations but also demonstrates the successful adaptation of its distinct brand identities to meet the specific needs of the Makkah market.
