NIGERIA – Best Western has officially launched its first international brand in Yenagoa, Nigeria, with the opening of Best Western Plus Yenagoa.

This property has become the first internationally branded hotel in the region, positioned strategically near Oxbow Lake.

The hotel offers upscale amenities including a spa, an outdoor poolside bar, and a Chinese restaurant, catering to tourists and business travelers.

It officially opened in October 2025, following a soft launch in December 2024.

Best Western Plus Yenagoa highlights global hospitality standards merged with local culture, reflecting Bayelsa State’s growing prominence in Nigeria’s tourism sector.

The hotel features elegantly designed rooms and suites, serviced residences, event spaces, and corporate meeting facilities.

BWH Hotels, the parent company, views Yenagoa as a launchpad for further African expansion.

Several properties are slated to open in Nigeria and neighboring countries, including Best Western Premier McDons Skye in Owerri and Best Western Premier Breeze in Benin in early 2026.

These moves reinforce Best Western’s commitment to Africa’s rapidly growing hospitality market.

The hotel’s launch was attended by former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Douye Diri, signaling strong government backing for foreign investment.

This support boosts local economy and positions Nigeria as an increasingly attractive destination for global business and tourism.

Best Western has made significant investments in West Africa as part of its ambitious African expansion strategy.

Over the past two years, the company has increased its footprint with several new properties and pipeline projects across key economic and tourism hubs.

Best Western Premier McDons Skye in Owerri is scheduled for October 2025, and the Best Western Premier Breeze in Cotonou, Benin, will open in early 2026.

These hotels feature modern amenities and cater to both business and leisure travelers, enhancing regional tourism infrastructure.

BWH Hotels, the parent company, emphasizes providing diverse hospitality options with brands ranging from economy to luxury.

With a strong pipeline of 10-12 upcoming openings in Africa, Best Western expects continued growth fueled by rising middle-class demand and government backing of foreign investment.

These investments strengthen the company’s position in West Africa’s emerging travel and business markets.
