United Nigeria Airlines launches first regional flight to Accra, Ghana in November 2025

Tickets for the Lagos–Accra–Lagos and Abuja–Accra–Abuja routes are now available on the United Nigeria Airlines booking portal and through travel agents.

NIGERIA/GHANA – United Nigeria Airlines has announced the commencement of direct flights to Accra, Ghana, beginning November 10, 2025.

The new service will operate from both Lagos and Abuja, connecting passengers to Kotoka International Airport in Accra. This marks the airline’s first regional route outside Nigeria.

Speaking at the announcement in Lagos, Chief Operating Officer Mazi Osita Okonkwo described the launch as a significant milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy.

Ghana is an important part of our regional growth plan. This marks our first operation outside Nigeria, and we are truly excited about it,” Okonkwo said.

He highlighted United Nigeria Airlines’ strong reputation built over the past four years for safety, regulatory compliance, exceptional customer service, and on-time performance.

Okonkwo affirmed the airline’s commitment to extending these values across all regional and international routes.

With United Nigeria Airlines now operating on the Accra route, we are expanding travel options for the flying public, including business and leisure travelers, while proudly flying the Nigerian flag and enhancing connectivity between Nigeria and Ghana,” he added.

Okonkwo summarized the airline’s vision: “Our mission is to Unite. Uniting people, cultures, and dreams while bridging the gap in connectivity through efficient flight operations.”

The airline also announced the commencement of several domestic routes in November, including Abuja–Sokoto and Ilorin.

This regional expansion represents United Nigeria Airlines’ growing footprint and ambition to strengthen air travel links within West Africa, boosting economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Ghana.

Nigeria and Ghana share a complex, historic trade and travel relationship, heavily influencing West Africa’s connectivity. Both countries have been key players in regional commerce, with Nigeria historically serving as a crucial capital source and trading partner for Ghana.

Their exchanges cover agricultural products, manufactured goods, and services, fostering economic interdependence.

Despite past political tensions such as border closures and deportations during the 1980s, diplomatic efforts have sought to stabilize relations.

Today, enhanced flight connectivity, like United Nigeria Airlines’ Accra route, supports growing business and leisure travel, strengthening West African economic integration and cultural ties between these regional hubs.
