Major interchange stations such as Qasr Al-Hukm, the Financial Center, STC main stations, and the National Museum station have recorded the highest passenger volumes, together making up more than 29% of total ridership.

SAUDI ARABIA – The Riyadh Metro has welcomed its 100 millionth passenger in less than nine months since its launch in December.

This milestone highlights the rapid adoption and success of the city’s modern transit system, designed to enhance mobility for residents and visitors alike.

Among the metro lines, the Blue Line on the Olaya Road axis recorded the highest usage, with approximately 46.5 million passengers since its opening.

The Red Line, running on King Abdullah Road, followed with 17 million passengers, while the Orange Line along Madinah Road reported 12 million users.

The remaining three lines have collectively served 24.5 million passengers, maintaining an impressive operating regularity rate exceeding 99.78% since operations began.

Key interchange stations including Qasr Al-Hukm, the Financial Center, STC main stations, and the National Museum station have seen the largest volume of users, accounting for over 29% of total ridership.

These stations allow seamless transfers across multiple metro lines, contributing to efficient passenger flow.

Operated by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the Riyadh Metro’s services are supported by an extensive bus network and numerous public transport stops.

This integration offers passengers a smooth and interconnected travel experience from departure to final destination.

The metro system and its complementary transportation options promote ease of movement across Riyadh, reducing reliance on private vehicles and alleviating urban traffic congestion.

This aligns with broader sustainability goals and reflects Riyadh’s commitment to modern, eco-friendly urban transport solutions.

Residents and visitors benefit from multiple transit choices tailored to meet diverse travel needs, making urban commuting more accessible and convenient.

With its high frequency, punctuality, and coverage, the Riyadh Metro is positioning itself as a key pillar of Riyadh’s public transport infrastructure and urban development vision.

The project’s success serves as a benchmark for future urban transit initiatives in Saudi Arabia and the wider region, demonstrating the positive impact of integrated, sustainable transportation systems on city living.

As Riyadh continues to grow, the metro’s expanding network will play a crucial role in shaping the city’s accessibility, livability, and environmental footprint.
