The development will span key urban and leisure destinations, including West Cairo, Azha Ras El Hekma on the North Coast, and Azha Ain Al Sokhna.

EGYPT – Sunrise Resorts & Cruises has entered a landmark strategic partnership with Thailand-based Minor International to develop and manage up to 50 new hotels in Egypt over the next decade.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi, underscoring its significance to Egypt’s Vision 2030 economic goals.

This joint venture marks Minor Hotels’ official entry into the Egyptian market, leveraging Sunrise’s deep local expertise and extensive portfolio.

The development will span key urban and leisure destinations, including West Cairo, Azha Ras El Hekma on the North Coast, and Azha Ain Al Sokhna.

The initial phase includes seven projects, covering greenfield developments, brownfield conversions, and the rebranding of existing Sunrise properties.

A major highlight of the partnership is the introduction of Anantara Hotels & Resorts, Minor’s flagship luxury brand, to Egypt.

This will elevate the country’s hospitality offerings, targeting high-end travelers seeking immersive, culturally rich experiences.

The collaboration also extends to Nile cruise operations, with plans to manage Sunrise’s fleet of seven cruise boats between Aswan and Luxor, drawing on Minor’s successful river cruise models in Asia.

Minor International, parent company of Minor Hotels, operates over 640 properties across 59 countries, with more than 80,000 rooms and 3,000 restaurants under 50 leading brands.

William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder, described the venture as a milestone that combines global hospitality excellence with local insight to unlock Egypt’s vast tourism potential.

Sunrise Resorts, founded in 2002, currently operates 27 resorts and 7 Nile cruise ships across Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, and Alexandria.

The group welcomes over 5 million guests annually and employs 10,000 hoteliers. Hossam El Shaer, Chairman of Sunrise and Madaar Developments, emphasized that the partnership reflects strong international confidence in Egypt’s economy and tourism growth.

The alliance also includes Madaar Developments, which will launch four major hotels in Ras El-Hekma, New Zayed, and Ain Sokhna. This expansion supports the government’s push to increase hotel capacity through private-sector collaboration.

With this partnership, Egypt is poised to become a premier luxury tourism hub, blending global standards with authentic local experiences.
