Pizza Hut, Americana Restaurants launch Bahrain’s first restaurant staffed entirely by people of determination

The new restaurant is part of Bahrain’s Opportunity4All programme, a national initiative aimed at fostering inclusive and empowering work environments for People of Determination.

BAHRAIN – Pizza Hut and Americana Restaurants have inaugurated Bahrain’s first restaurant fully staffed by team members with hearing and speech impairments.

This groundbreaking initiative supports the country’s drive for workplace inclusion and empowerment.

The new restaurant operates under Bahrain’s Opportunity4All programme, a national initiative focused on creating accessible and empowering employment environments for People of Determination.

This term is used locally to respectfully describe individuals living with disabilities, underscoring the country’s commitment to equality and inclusion.

Opportunity4All aims to foster meaningful career opportunities, remove barriers, and promote social integration of People of Determination across public and private sectors.

The newly launched Pizza Hut restaurant serves as a powerful example of these principles in action within the hospitality industry.

Ayanda Moropane, People and Culture Director for Pizza Hut Middle East and Africa (MEA), emphasised the company’s dedication to community impact.

She said, “Pizza Hut is a people-first company that strives to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

She added that supporting this programme aligns with Pizza Hut’s mission to enable employability for People of Determination.

This initiative is also part of wider efforts by Americana Restaurants to build an inclusive workforce across their brands, helping break down stigma and create lasting social change in the region.

They provide tailored training, accessible communication tools, and a supportive work environment for team members with disabilities.

At the newly opened Bahrain restaurant, staff have been carefully recruited and trained to ensure they can perform all customer-facing and operational roles confidently and efficiently.

The restaurant employs innovative signage, staff communication techniques, and technology to deliver seamless service to guests while empowering team members.

Local community partners and disability advocacy groups were involved closely during the planning and launch phases, ensuring that the restaurant aligns with best practices for inclusion and accessibility.

This collaborative approach strengthens community ties and fosters mutual understanding.

By opening this pioneering outlet, Pizza Hut and Americana Restaurants contribute to Bahrain’s vision of a more inclusive society where People of Determination have equitable access to jobs, training, and career growth.

This inspiring project sets a new benchmark for corporate responsibility in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, showing how businesses can drive positive societal impact while delivering exceptional customer experiences.
