The certification confirms that Rosewood’s operations align with the four key GSTC Criteria: effective sustainable management, social and economic benefits for local communities, cultural heritage preservation, and environmental responsibility.
UAE – Rosewood Hotel Group has earned the prestigious Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification from Bureau Veritas, covering 47 properties across Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Rosewood Hotel Group has achieved GSTC certification, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable hospitality.
This certification ensures that its properties, including Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Rosewood Jeddah, adhere to the highest environmental and social standards.
The certification confirms that Rosewood’s operations align with the four key GSTC Criteria: effective sustainable management, social and economic benefits for local communities, cultural heritage preservation, and environmental responsibility.
Sustainability and social impact are not treated as obligations but as core principles that shape every aspect of the guest experience.
Each property integrates eco-conscious culinary initiatives, educational guest programs, and sustainable design elements that honor local heritage and artistry while fostering partnerships that support local communities.
Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed, Vice President of Impact and Sustainability at Rosewood Hotel Group, stated that the company aimed to create experiences that were both exciting and meaningful while remaining responsible.
She noted that the GSTC certification affirmed this approach, as the company applied a sustainability-focused perspective across all aspects of its business, including hiring, supply chain management, partnerships, procurement, and design.
Randy Durband, CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, extended congratulations to Rosewood Hotel Group for achieving GSTC certification at a group-wide level.
He highlighted that twelve properties within the portfolio were among the first in their respective countries to receive GSTC-Accredited Certification, which provided the highest level of assurance for sustainability claims in the hospitality industry.
He expressed hope that Rosewood’s achievement would serve as an example for other hospitality brands to prioritize sustainability through credible external validation.
This milestone is a result of Rosewood Impacts, the group’s strategic sustainability initiative designed to create positive change for both communities and the planet.
In 2024, the initiative will introduce a group-wide carbon neutrality roadmap, welcome five additional properties as Impact Trailblazers, and expand its business-with-purpose restaurant program to more locations.
Rosewood Hotel Group, owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, is a leading global lifestyle and hospitality management company.
Its portfolio includes four distinct brands: ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®, upper-upscale New World Hotels & Resorts, integrated well-being concept Asaya, and progressive private members’ club Carlyle & Co.
