Unlike traditional list-style menus that force customers to scroll endlessly, the AI adapts to each merchant’s unique offerings, picking up on details like gluten-free bases, non-standard pizza shapes, and half-and-half topping layouts before presenting them through a clean, structured interface.

USA – DoorDash has introduced an AI-driven pizza ordering feature designed to transform cluttered, text-heavy menus into a streamlined visual experience.
The rollout arrives just in time for Pi Day on March 14, when pizza orders historically spike, giving customers an effortless way to build their perfect pie while helping merchants capture more sales.
How the AI Magic Works
The system automatically scans each restaurant’s store page, detects pizza items, and reorganizes them into an intuitive, image-based flow.
Unlike traditional list-style menus that force customers to scroll endlessly, the AI adapts to each merchant’s unique offerings, picking up on details like gluten-free bases, non-standard pizza shapes, and half-and-half topping layouts before presenting them through a clean, structured interface.
Toppings appear visually, with clear half-and-half choices that let customers browse and select favorite combinations without confusion.
No More Starting Over
Here’s the feature that will save countless headaches: selected toppings stay in place even if customers change the crust or pizza size mid-order.
That means no more rebuilding your masterpiece from scratch because you decided thin crust would work better than deep dish.
DoorDash product lead Brian Tolkin explained the thinking behind the update: “We built this experience so customers can create the exact type of pizza they’re craving in a way that feels effortless. When ordering is intuitive, customers explore more of the menu, which can create growth opportunities for merchants.“
Pi Day: The Super Bowl of Pizza
The timing is no coincidence. Pi Day has become one of the biggest pizza-ordering days of the year, with major chains reporting sales spikes that rival Super Bowl weekend.
By launching now, DoorDash gives its merchant partners a technological edge when demand peaks.
The feature initially rolls out to selected merchants, with plans to expand more widely based on performance and feedback.
Pizza First, Then the World
Pizza is just the beginning.
DoorDash views this as the first cuisine in what will become a broader menu transformation approach, with plans to extend the AI-powered visualization technology to other food categories over time.
The launch follows December’s introduction of Zesty, a separate AI-powered app that helps users discover local restaurants and share recommendations, signaling DoorDash’s deepening investment in artificial intelligence across its platform.
