GHA members can now earn and redeem benefits across Japan’s most sought-after destinations, from Okinawa’s sun-drenched beaches to Tokyo’s electric Shibuya district.

JAPAN – Global Hotel Alliance has signed an agreement with Tokyu Hotels & Resorts, adding more than 40 properties across Japan to its GHA DISCOVERY loyalty program.

The partnership taps into Japan’s booming tourism market, which welcomed a record 42.7 million international visitors in 2025.

Member hotels span Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Okinawa, offering everything from beach resorts to business hotels under brands like THE CAPITOL HOTEL TOKYU and STREAM HOTEL.

A Match Made in Hospitality Heaven

Chris Hartley, CEO of GHA, called the timing perfect: “With Japan seeing a sustained boom in tourism, our agreement with TOKYU HOTELS is both timely and strategic.”

The deal opens GHA’s 34 million members to an expanded Japanese footprint while introducing Tokyu’s authentic hospitality to a global audience.

Japanese Elegance Meets Global Reach

Tokyu Hotels has delivered Japanese elegance since 1960, blending contemporary comfort with cultural authenticity.

The portfolio spans Tokyu Brand Hotels including THE CAPITOL HOTEL TOKYU and resort properties, plus DISTINCTIVE SELECTION hotels with unique personalities like STREAM HOTEL and STORYLINE.

The group previously founded Pan Pacific in 1989 and maintains marketing agreements for four Tokyo and Kyoto hotels.

Why This Matters for Travelers

GHA members can now earn and redeem benefits across Japan’s most sought-after destinations, from Okinawa’s sun-drenched beaches to Tokyo’s electric Shibuya district.

For Tokyu Hotels, the alliance opens doors to travelers planning multi-country itineraries across GHA’s 50 brands worldwide.

Japan’s Tourism Boom Continues

With 42.7 million international visitors in 2025 and Tokyo among the top five most visited cities globally, Japan’s appeal remains magnetic.

Takashi Takei, President of THR, said: “This partnership is a natural step forward. We aim to serve as a gateway for international travelers to gain a deeper understanding of Japan through our diverse portfolio.”

A Stronger Alliance for Independent Luxury

For GHA, already present in Asia through brands like India’s The Leela Palaces and Thailand’s Anantara, this addition strengthens its position as the premier alliance for independent hotel brands.

The partnership brings together two organizations committed to excellence and guest satisfaction, promising richer experiences for travelers exploring the Land of the Rising Sun.
