Wazir expressed his commitment to delivering “a grand boutique-luxury sanctuary that captures Qatar’s elegance and innovation” in partnership with owner UDC.

QATAR- Corinthia Hotels has appointed Mohammed Wazir as general manager of Corinthia Gewan Island Qatar, the brand’s first hotel in the Gulf scheduled to be opened in 2027, marking a strategic milestone in the group’s Middle East expansion.

A respected hospitality leader with more than two decades of international experience, Wazir brings a distinguished track record across luxury hotel operations, iconic openings and brand development in some of the world’s most competitive markets.

A defining chapter in Wazir’s career was his involvement in the opening of Corinthia London, where he served as Executive Assistant Manager and played a key role in establishing the hotel’s operational culture and service philosophy.

During his earlier tenure with Corinthia, he held operational roles across five properties including Corinthia Prague, St Petersburg, London, St George’s Bay Malta and Tripoli, gaining rare, in-depth understanding of the brand across diverse markets.

Wazir returns to Corinthia following senior general management roles with Anantara and Habitas, where he led award-winning destination properties such as Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara and Our Habitas Ras Abrouq, consistently elevating guest experience and strengthening market positioning.

Having worked across multiple Corinthia properties, Mohammed brings a deep, lived understanding of our culture, standards and values,” said Simon P. Casson, CEO of Corinthia Hotels. “His return to lead our first hotel in the GCC marks an important milestone for the group,” he added.

Wazir expressed his commitment to delivering “a grand boutique-luxury sanctuary that captures Qatar’s elegance and innovation” in partnership with owner UDC.

The appointment of Wazir goes a long way in establishing the significance of Corinthia’s first GCC hotel which extends beyond brand presence.

More importantly, the hotel has already won the 2020 International Property Award for Best New Hotel Construction & Design, reflecting its architectural ambition.

For guests, the design vision embraces what UDC describes as “urban luxury and neoclassical design,” creating an architectural jewel that balances grandeur with intimate hospitality.

The appointment reinforces Corinthia’s broader regional expansion, which includes Corinthia Dubai opening in 2030.
