For Egypt’s tourism sector, a modernized long-haul fleet means better connectivity to key source markets in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, supporting the government’s goal of attracting even more international visitors in the years ahead.

EGYPT – EgyptAir has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 at Cairo International Airport, marking the beginning of a sweeping fleet renewal that will see 12 new aircraft arrive this year and 34 by 2031.

Chairman Ahmed Adel described the A350-900 as a “pivotal addition” reflecting the airline’s plan to raise operational efficiency, expand long-haul operations, and enhance global competitiveness.

A Star-Studded Arrival with National Significance

The ceremony drew Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny, and representatives from Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Panasonic.

Prime Minister Madbouly praised EgyptAir’s adoption of latest aviation technologies, emphasizing the fleet expansion supports Egypt’s goal of becoming a regional aviation hub while boosting tourism and international connectivity.

He inspected the aircraft and highlighted ongoing upgrades to airport infrastructure nationwide.

First in North Africa with Premium Passenger Touches

EgyptAir is the first North African airline to operate the A350-900, featuring 30 business and 310 economy seats with Airbus’ Airspace cabin for enhanced comfort and reduced noise on long-haul flights.

The aircraft uses Sustainable Aviation Fuel, cutting carbon emissions significantly.

EgyptAir also becomes the first African carrier with Panasonic’s Astrova inflight entertainment, offering 4K OLED screens, Bluetooth audio, USB-C charging, and high-speed internet throughout the flight.

A Multi-Year Modernization Strategy Takes Shape

Adel announced the fleet renewal will deliver 13 additional aircraft in 2027, with 34 total by 2031 completing the first modernization phase.

The ceremony featured speeches from Airbus Africa & Middle East CEO and Rolls-Royce CEO, who both praised EgyptAir’s forward-thinking approach to fleet development and passenger experience enhancement.

Supporting Egypt’s Tourism Surge and Economic Ambitions

Prime Minister Madbouly highlighted ongoing airport upgrades, including Cairo’s Terminal 4 expansion and regional airport development, alongside digitalisation efforts to phase out paper travel cards and ensure flight punctuality.

For Egypt’s tourism sector, which welcomed nearly 19 million visitors in 2025, a modernized long-haul fleet means better connectivity to key source markets in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, supporting the government’s goal of attracting even more international visitors in the years ahead.

International Confidence in Egyptian Aviation

Civil Aviation Minister El-Hefny said the A350-900 induction reflects Egypt’s growing role as a regional aviation hub and demonstrates international confidence in the national carrier.

With its new flagship aircraft, cutting-edge inflight technology, and sustainability credentials, EgyptAir is positioning itself as a modern carrier ready to connect Egypt to the world while supporting the country’s broader economic and tourism ambitions under Vision 2030.
