IHG to debut Kimpton Brand in Qatar with 283-key lifestyle hotel in Doha

This move strategically taps into Doha’s maturing tourism and business landscape. By converting an existing property to the Kimpton flag, IHG accelerates its market entry with a prime asset, avoiding the longer timeline of a ground-up development.

QATAR – IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, a 283-key luxury lifestyle hotel slated to open in mid-2026.

This conversion project will introduce IHG’s acclaimed Kimpton brand to Qatar, positioning it as a design-led social hub in the heart of the capital to serve both business and leisure travelers.

A Design-Led Destination in a Prime Downtown Location

Strategically situated in a vibrant downtown area near major business districts and cultural attractions, the hotel is designed to reflect Kimpton’s signature human-centered and aesthetically driven ethos.

The property will offer curated rooms, suites, and apartments alongside five distinctive dining and lounge venues, including a rooftop bar with panoramic city views.

Emphasizing its role as a community space, it will also operate as a pet-friendly destination, a hallmark of the Kimpton brand that caters to modern traveler preferences.

A Strategic Brand Entry for a Dynamic Market

The signing represents a significant brand milestone for IHG in the Middle East.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director for IHG in India, Middle East & Africa, stated that bringing Kimpton to Doha aligns perfectly with the city’s blend of tradition and ambition.

He emphasized that the conversion would reimagine a well-located property into a beacon of boutique luxury, delivering the personalized, experience-rich stay demanded by today’s discerning guests.

Sheikh Khalid Bin Jassim Al Thani, the owner’s representative, noted the partnership aligns with Doha’s trajectory as a leading global destination, aiming to transform the property into a regional avant-garde example of boutique luxury hospitality.

Capitalizing on Doha’s Luxury and Lifestyle Appeal

This move strategically taps into Doha’s maturing tourism and business landscape. By converting an existing property to the Kimpton flag, IHG accelerates its market entry with a prime asset, avoiding the longer timeline of a ground-up development.

The hotel is poised to capture demand from travelers seeking an alternative to traditional luxury, offering a more intimate, design-conscious, and socially vibrant environment.

Its opening in 2026 will further diversify the city’s high-end accommodation options, reinforcing Doha’s competitive position as a global hub for luxury travel and lifestyle, and strengthening IHG’s portfolio in a key Gulf Cooperation Council market.
