VIETNAM – Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has opened its inaugural property in Vietnam, Fairmont Hanoi, a 291-room landmark situated in the capital’s historic Old Quarter near Hoàn Kiếm Lake.
Owned by GELEX Group, the hotel positions itself as a cultural and social nexus, blending design inspired by the Red River and Imperial Citadel with extensive wellness and MICE facilities to capture the city’s luxury and business travel segments.
A Design-Driven Homage to Hanoi’s Heritage
Designed by Perkins Eastman and Aston Design, the property’s architecture and interiors draw direct inspiration from Hanoi’s cultural fabric, referencing the Red River, local spiritual rituals, and the surrounding Old Quarter.
The hotel aims to be more than an accommodation; Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, described it as a “captivating home within the city” conceived as a genuine gathering place and vibrant social epicenter.
This intent is mirrored by owner GELEX Group’s statement that the project reflects a commitment to creating sustainable value while preserving the city’s cultural identity within a modern urban landscape.
Culinary Diversity and Unrivalled Event Scale
The hotel’s eight food and beverage venues are designed to serve as destinations in themselves, curated by renowned chefs.
Key outlets include Tran Dynasty, led by Chef Luke Nguyen for contemporary Vietnamese cuisine; Hiryu for Japanese dining; and Bacco for Italian fare.
For the meetings and events market, a major competitive advantage is the property’s 12,000 square foot column-free ballroom, the largest of its kind in the Old Quarter.
This anchors a comprehensive MICE center spanning over 4,000 square meters with additional ballrooms and meeting rooms, targeting high-profile corporate and social gatherings.
Wellness as a Destination and a Brand Legacy
Further distinguishing the property is the expansive Cirua Spa, Fitness & Wellness Club, covering 38,000 square feet.
The facility features extensive hydrotherapy and thermal areas, plunge pools, saunas, steam rooms, ten treatment rooms, and a fitness studio, positioning wellness as a core attraction.
General Manager Jean-François Brun emphasized blending Fairmont’s century-long heritage with the distinctive rhythm of Hanoi, aiming to create a new chapter of meaningful moments.
By integrating profound local design, diverse culinary artistry, top-tier event capacity, and dedicated wellness, Fairmont Hanoi is poised to become a definitive luxury address, elevating the competitive landscape for hospitality in Vietnam’s capital.
