CBS NorthStar partners with QSR automations to deploy KitchenAI for smarter restaurants

KitchenAI analyzes a comprehensive data set, including item-level cooking times, kitchen display system (KDS) activity, historical performance patterns, and real-time production pace, to generate precise estimates for when orders will be ready.

GLOBAL – CBS NorthStar has forged a strategic partnership with QSR Automations by Crunchtime to integrate and distribute its KitchenAI predictive intelligence platform to a global restaurant customer base.

This collaboration will provide foodservice operators with advanced forecasting, real-time kitchen pacing, and data-driven insights designed to streamline multi-channel service and enhance order accuracy.

Predictive Intelligence Over Passive Dashboards

The core of the partnership centers on moving restaurant kitchens from a reactive to a proactive operational model.

KitchenAI analyzes a comprehensive data set, including item-level cooking times, kitchen display system (KDS) activity, historical performance patterns, and real-time production pace, to generate precise estimates for when orders will be ready.

CBS NorthStar’s Chief Revenue Officer, Jeremy Julian, emphasized that the alliance brings predictive intelligence, not just passive dashboards, to operators, accelerating an industry-wide shift.

The system is designed to optimize workflows and coordinate production seamlessly across dine-in, takeout, and delivery channels, a critical capability in today’s fragmented service environment.

An Integrated Layer for Enhanced Back-of-House Performance

Under the agreement, KitchenAI will be introduced as an additional intelligence layer that integrates with QSR Automations’ established kitchen management platforms.

This setup aims to create a more holistic view of operations, linking granular workflow capabilities with powerful predictive modeling.

The stated goal is to drive measurable improvements in order precision, kitchen throughput, and the standardization of back-of-house performance.

By anticipating delays and identifying bottlenecks before they impact service, restaurants can respond more swiftly, reducing wait times and improving the overall guest experience.

A Strategic Reshaping of Kitchen Operations

Jennifer Karpinsky, Vice-President of Business Development at QSR Automations, stated the partnership unites two complementary strengths to reshape kitchen operations.

For restaurant brands, especially large quick-service and fast-casual chains, the integration promises a significant technological uplift.

It addresses key hospitality pain points: inconsistent service speeds during peak hours and the operational friction caused by managing multiple order streams.

By providing “a new level of clarity,” the technology empowers managers to allocate resources more efficiently and maintain quality control.

In a competitive landscape where speed and reliability are directly tied to customer satisfaction and loyalty, this partnership positions predictive kitchen analytics as a vital tool for improving operational efficiency, reducing waste, and ultimately safeguarding the restaurant’s reputation for timely service.
