Located in the core of Johor Bahru’s commercial and retail hub, the property caters to cross-border business travelers and leisure guests who want easy, walkable access to malls, offices, and major transport connections.

MALAYSIA – Novotel has opened Novotel Johor Bahru City Centre, a 304-key city hotel that has been designed to balance business functionality, family-friendly comfort and sustainability ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Johor 2026.
Urban hub in Johor Bahru’s core
Set in the heart of Johor Bahru’s commercial and retail district, the property targets cross-border business travellers and leisure guests seeking walkable access to malls, offices and key transport links.
The interiors blend contemporary lines with subtle Malaysian cultural references through materials, patterns and artwork, creating a sense of place while staying aligned with Novotel’s global midscale positioning.
This combination aims to resonate with international guests drawn by brand familiarity and domestic travellers looking for a modern expression of local identity.
Guestrooms, dining and leisure offering
The hotel features 304 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows, Smart TVs, Deep Nature amenities and flexible layouts configured for solo travellers, couples and families.
Suites add espresso machines and enhanced workspace, while family room setups cater to multi-generational stays and weekend getaways.
Food Exchange serves as the main all-day dining venue, offering Malaysian favourites, international classics and festive menus tied to key cultural seasons.
In the lobby, Gourmet Bar focuses on light bites, crafted drinks and grab-and-go options for office workers and in-transit guests, complemented by a Pool Bar that services the open-air infinity pool, adding a resort-like touch to the urban setting.
Meetings, events and brand strategy
For events, the Grand Chamber ballroom provides 520 square metres of pillarless space, equipped with three LED screens and accommodating up to about 300 guests for weddings, conferences and social functions.
Six additional meeting rooms and a dedicated VIP waiting room support corporate gatherings, senior executive briefings and smaller celebrations, reinforcing Johor Bahru’s positioning as an emerging secondary MICE hub.
Accor’s regional leadership presents the opening as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its premium, midscale and economy footprint in Malaysia’s fast-growing gateway cities, aligning with national and state-level tourism campaigns.
Sustainability commitment and opening offer
The hotel showcases Novotel’s Positive Impact Plan, which links guest wellbeing to environmental performance through initiatives anchored in ocean-related and climate-focused ambitions.
