Wingstop has accelerated its global footprint with record-breaking openings over the past two years, directly contributing to the 3,000th restaurant milestone.

GLOBAL – Wingstop has reached a significant milestone with its 3,000th restaurant worldwide, underscoring rapid expansion toward 10,000 locations.
The Texas-based chain, founded in 1994, relies on franchisees for 98% of its outlets across 47 US states and 15 international markets.
President and CEO Michael Skipworth noted the brand scaled from 2,000 to 3,000 sites in just over two years. Nearly 800 locations opened since 2023, doubling international presence in markets like Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands.
Future openings target Thailand, Italy, and Ireland.
Franchise growth drove Q3 2025 success, with over 70 partners adding outlets. Wingstop’s menu highlights cooked-to-order wings, tenders, sandwiches, sides, and signature dips like housemade ranch.
Fiscal 2024 system-wide sales hit US$5 billion.
Canada expansion deepens with three Calgary sites planned for 2026 under JPK Capital’s master franchise for Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
This follows Ontario entry in 2022, supporting a 100-location goal.

In 2024, the chain added a net 349 new locations, achieving a 15.8% unit growth rate and reaching 2,563 total sites worldwide. This momentum continued into 2025, with 255 net new units opened in the first half alone—matching the entire 2023 total.
Q3 2025 marked a historic high of 129 net new restaurants in a single quarter, followed by 114 more openings, pushing toward 435-460 units for the year at a 17-18% growth rate.
Over 95% of these developments came from existing franchisees reinvesting, highlighting strong unit economics and franchisee confidence.
The UK alone confirmed 10 new sites in 2025, including dine-in spots in Swansea, Newcastle, Leeds, and Streatham, creating hundreds of jobs.
Internationally, Wingstop entered six new markets since 2023: Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands, doubling its overseas presence to 15 countries.
A 100-unit master franchise deal with JPK Capital covers Canada (three Calgary openings in 2026), Australia, and New Zealand.
Investments include testing an AI-driven kitchen platform in early 2025 to boost efficiency and speed up service.
These efforts underpin Wingstop’s strategy to scale toward 10,000 locations as a top 10 global brand, leveraging franchise strength, digital innovation, and whitespace opportunities.
