AFRICA – TUI Group has strengthened its hotel clusters across Africa with seven new openings across North, West, and East Africa, expanding its regional portfolio to 106 hotels.
In November 2025 alone, four new resorts joined TUI’s North African portfolio, and The Gambia welcomed its first TUI Blue property.
Additionally, two new TUI hotels are scheduled to open in Zanzibar by early 2026, further boosting the group’s presence in East Africa.
Peter Krueger, TUI Group Executive Board member and CEO of Holiday Experiences, said these expansions offer diverse holiday experiences in promising African destinations.
The group’s cluster strategy enhances operational efficiency and supports sustainable tourism development benefiting local communities.
Recent highlights include JAZ Amaluna, a 211-room adults-only resort in Zanzibar, opening in December 2025, and the upcoming Riu Palace Swahili, with over 500 rooms, three infinity pools, and multiple dining options.
These properties cater to families, couples, and luxury travelers, enhancing Africa’s appeal as a multifaceted travel destination.
TUI’s focus on local culture, community impact, and sustainable growth reflects its commitment to Africa’s long-term tourism potential.
The expanding portfolio supports regional economic growth through job creation and supplier partnerships, contributing to the continent’s positioning as one of the world’s fastest-growing leisure markets.
In addition to recent African openings, TUI Group has pursued aggressive expansion across the Middle East and Africa over the past two years, building scale through strategic acquisitions and partnerships.
In the Middle East, the group entered key growth markets including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, introducing TUI Blue and Riu properties that combine world-class amenities with culturally relevant experiences.
These developments are part of the group’s goal to diversify offerings and capture rising leisure travel demand in rapidly urbanizing regions.
TUI has also invested heavily in enhancing its digital platforms and distribution channels for these markets, improving access and customer engagement.
In Africa, TUI expanded beyond resort hotels into adventure, eco-tourism, and city hotels to address diverse traveler preferences.
Collaborations with local developers and governments have accelerated project delivery and boosted regional tourism infrastructure.
This holistic growth strategy supports TUI’s vision of becoming the leading integrated travel and hospitality group in emerging markets.
The group’s focus on hotel clustering maximizes operational synergies and sustainability, strengthening its long-term competitive position as African and Middle Eastern tourism sectors continue to grow robustly.
