SPB Hospitality elevates Ryan Russell to Chief of Staff, enhancing leadership and strategic alignment

In his expanded role, Russell will continue overseeing corporate communications while intensifying focus on internal communications, culture development, and cross-brand alignment.

USA – SPB Hospitality, a prominent portfolio company of Fortress Investment Group based in Texas, has promoted Ryan Russell to the role of chief of staff.

This advancement highlights the company’s focus on strengthening leadership and reinforcing a collaborative culture across its diverse portfolio.

Russell will report directly to G.J. Hart, chairman and CEO of SPB Hospitality. In this role, he will work closely with the executive leadership team to enhance cross-functional collaboration, reinforce the company’s culture, and support strategic initiatives spanning all of SPB’s brands.

With over a decade of hospitality experience, Russell joined SPB in 2021 and quickly progressed through leadership ranks, most recently serving as senior director of communications and marketing.

He led the company’s public relations strategy and spearheaded community engagement programs such as the HOPE Program and partnerships with Gift A Meal and K9s for Warriors.

Chairman and CEO Hart praised Russell for his operational expertise and his dedication to building strong partnerships with SPB’s support teams, operators, and communities.

In his expanded role, Russell will continue overseeing corporate communications while intensifying focus on internal communications, culture development, and cross-brand alignment.

Russell expressed enthusiasm about his new role, emphasizing his commitment to advancing SPB’s strategic priorities and cultivating programs that enhance team empowerment and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

His appointment marks a strategic step in ensuring SPB Hospitality’s continued success and operational excellence.

SPB Hospitality has been actively pursuing strategic investments and expansion initiatives to strengthen its position in the competitive casual and upscale dining markets.

Following the 2023 merger with Krystal Restaurants, adding nearly 300 quick-service locations, the company has streamlined its portfolio by divesting non-core brands to focus on key growth areas like Krystal, Logan’s Roadhouse, and J. Alexander’s.

This refocused approach aims to enhance brand identity, operational efficiency, and market penetration.

The appointment of Ryan Russell as chief of staff comes at a pivotal time, with SPB accelerating these strategic priorities. His role will be crucial in facilitating communication and collaboration across the company’s diverse brand portfolio.

Russell’s leadership in reinforcing SPB’s culture and supporting strategic initiatives coincides with efforts to expand franchising, develop new store formats, and improve guest experiences.

His ability to align cross-functional teams enhances the company’s capacity to execute its growth strategy effectively and capitalize on market opportunities in an evolving hospitality landscape.
