Ethiopian Airlines introduces second daily flight on Abuja–Addis Ababa route to enhance connectivity

The additional flight reduces layover time and enables more efficient scheduling for business travelers, while offering leisure passengers greater access to holiday and cultural destinations.

NIGERIA/ETHIOPIA – Ethiopian Airlines has launched a second daily flight on the Abuja–Addis Ababa route, starting June 2026, to better serve growing demand from both business and leisure travelers.

The new service complements the existing midday flight, providing passengers with increased flexibility and travel options.

Operating as flight ET957, the evening flight departs Abuja at 10:00 p.m. and arrives in Addis Ababa at 5:00 a.m. local time, facilitating smoother connections to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network.

The aircraft used is an Airbus A330-300, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Economy seating classes, designed to ensure passenger comfort.

This expansion enhances travel options for Nigerians flying onwards to destinations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America, including major hubs such as Dubai, Johannesburg, and São Paulo.

Ethiopian Airlines’ move reflects its strategy to improve regional connectivity, boost tourism, and support economic ties between Nigeria and Ethiopia.

The additional flight reduces layover time and enables more efficient scheduling for business travelers, while offering leisure passengers greater access to holiday and cultural destinations.

The route’s enhanced frequency is also vital for fostering trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, strengthening ties between the two countries and contributing to sustainable economic development.

With modern fleet amenities and reliable service, Ethiopian Airlines continues to uphold its reputation as a leading carrier in Africa, connecting key continental and global markets.

This route expansion highlights Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to meeting passenger needs through increased flight options, advanced fleet technology, and improved service quality, paving the way for greater growth in Africa’s air travel sector.

Ethiopian Airlines’ expansion in West Africa and across the continent highlights its strategic vision to become Africa’s leading carrier. Recently, the airline launched direct flights between Addis Ababa and Conakry, Guinea, increasing its footprint in West Africa.

It also resumed services to Monrovia, Liberia, reconnecting critical markets and enhancing travel options. Ethiopian’s multi-hub strategy includes partnerships with ASKY in Togo, Malawi Airlines, and Zambia Airways, strengthening regional connectivity.

With a young fleet of Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s, Ethiopian offers modern, efficient services to over 130 destinations globally. These efforts support economic growth, tourism, and trade while solidifying Ethiopian’s dominance in African aviation.
