AIDA Cruises’ winter offerings enable passengers to explore diverse regions, blending African coastal experiences with tropical island visits and extensive European itineraries.

AFRICA – AIDA Cruises has unveiled its comprehensive 2027/28 winter programme featuring more than 300 voyages and marking a return to South Africa after several years away.

The programme highlights the deployment of AIDAblu, which will operate 14-night roundtrips departing from Cape Town between November 2027 and March 2028.

These itineraries will include calls at East London, Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Walvis Bay in Namibia, with selected cruises extending into the Indian Ocean.

Early 2028 will see AIDAblu sailing from Port Louis, Mauritius, with itineraries to the Seychelles, Madagascar, and La Réunion before repositioning for its European summer season.

The broader season includes cruise lengths ranging from seven to 48 days. Destinations span across the Caribbean, South America, Northern Europe, and the Canary Islands.

The Middle East deployments will remain suspended for the 2027/28 season, continuing the pause following earlier cancellations triggered by regional security concerns.

AIDA Cruises’ winter offerings enable passengers to explore diverse regions, blending African coastal experiences with tropical island visits and extensive European itineraries.

Ten ships will operate this season, serving a wide global audience with options including “big winter breaks” in warmer regions like the Caribbean and South America.

This return to South Africa is significant, boosting the cruise market in a growing destination.

Passengers will have access to popular ports with rich cultural and natural attractions, enhancing cruise tourism opportunities in the region.

Bookings for this extensive winter programme are already open, with some promotions available for early reservations ahead of the 2027 sailing season.

AIDA Cruises continues to focus on fleet modernization, customer experience enhancements, and innovative itineraries.

By blending diverse destinations within a single winter season, the cruise line aims to sustain momentum gained from record-breaking travel years and provide wide-ranging options for leisure travelers seeking unique holiday experiences.

The cruise tourism market in Africa is rapidly growing and projected to reach approximately US$300.86 million in revenue by 2025, with an expected annual growth rate of 6.85%.

Several African countries are investing in developing cruise infrastructure, such as Kenya’s new cruise terminal in Mombasa and expanded port facilities in South Africa.

These improvements attract more cruise ships, boosting local economies through tourism activities, shopping, and cultural experiences.

The expansion of cruise tourism offers a dynamic opportunity for Africa to diversify its travel industry beyond traditional safari tourism and capitalize on growing global cruise demand.
