Club Med announces first all-inclusive resort in South Africa, combining beachfront luxury with safari adventure

Club Med South Africa Beach & Safari marks a new era of luxury all-inclusive travel, blending coastal beauty with African wilderness to set a fresh benchmark for hospitality in the region.

SOUTH AFRICA – Club Med is set to debut its inaugural all-inclusive resort in South Africa, located on the stunning Dolphin Coast, just north of Durban.

Scheduled to open in July 2026, this groundbreaking resort offers a unique blend of seaside relaxation and immersive safari experiences, reflecting the brand’s pioneering spirit.

The resort is situated near the Mpilo Safari Lodge, nestled within an 18,000-hectare private game reserve home to the iconic Big Five.

This integration of beach and safari offers guests a rare opportunity to enjoy both pristine Indian Ocean beaches and thrilling wildlife encounters within a single trip.

Accommodation options will include 411 rooms, comprising 310 Superior and 35 Deluxe rooms, as well as the exclusive Ilanga section with 66 suites featuring private pools and personalized services.

The design emphasizes harmony with the natural environment, incorporating local materials and aesthetics to enhance the guest experience.

Guests can partake in an extensive range of activities. On-site offerings will include a surf school, suitable even for children aged six and above, watersports such as snorkeling, sailing, and diving, as well as padel courts and Club Med’s signature flying trapeze.

For those seeking relaxation, a zen zone with spa and yoga facilities will promote tranquility.

Dining will celebrate local and global culinary traditions, with multiple restaurants and bars offering diverse options.

Notable venues include Oceana, featuring international cuisine; the Nguni Gourmet Club, highlighting local flavors; and various bars like the beachfront Injabulo Bar and the surf-themed Dunes Beach Bar, both offering vibrant atmospheres with ocean views.

Family-friendly features are robust, including multiple children’s clubs tailored for different age groups, nature-based activities, dedicated family pools, and the “Amazing Family” program fostering unforgettable shared experiences.

The resort project, at an estimated cost of over 2 billion rand (US$122 million), is part of a sustainable initiative with commitments to local employment, community development, and green certifications.

Local suppliers and farmers will be engaged to promote inclusive economic growth.
