The global office in Hyderabad will support key business and technology operations, focusing on AI system development, talent acquisition, and data engineering.

INDIA – McDonald’s has unveiled plans to double its investment in artificial intelligence by 2027, naming India as a pivotal hub for global technology operations, including data governance, engineering, and platform architecture.
The fast food giant has operated in India since 1996, running hundreds of restaurants nationwide, and recently established a major global office in Hyderabad, Telangana.
This state-of-the-art Hyderabad hub is set to become McDonald’s largest global office outside the United States and will focus heavily on next-generation technology innovation.
The Hyderabad global office will serve core business and technology functions, including the development of AI-driven systems, talent recruitment, and data engineering.
McDonald’s aims to employ as many as 2,000 tech professionals at this location by early 2027, leveraging local expertise and India’s advanced digital infrastructure for worldwide initiatives.
The decision to locate such a crucial office in Hyderabad was driven by the city’s abundant skilled workforce, excellent infrastructure, and high quality of life, which outpaced competing cities like Bengaluru in McDonald’s evaluation process.
As part of its AI advancement, McDonald’s is implementing an order verification system currently live in 400 Indian restaurants, designed to detect and correct order errors before food reaches customers.
This technology helps ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction, while also streamlining the ordering workflow.
By 2027, the company’s strategy calls for rolling out this order verification tech to 40,000 McDonald’s outlets globally, bringing the benefits of AI to operations in multiple countries.
McDonald’s is also leveraging AI to forecast sales trends, set pricing strategies, and assess product performance across markets, while a global personalized app is under development to unify customer experience worldwide.
These projects are part of a broader digital transformation plan that emphasizes investment in technology platforms and AI tools, rather than simply expanding headcount.
In addition to India, McDonald’s is evaluating similar technology development centers in other markets such as Poland and Mexico, reflecting a global shift among multinationals to build essential AI capabilities in regions with rich tech talent.
In India, the company’s office is already driving global projects and innovations beyond cost efficiencies, helping boost its competitiveness and digital maturity.
By positioning India as its main global tech and AI hub, McDonald’s seeks to revolutionize operational efficiency, improve order accuracy, and deliver better customer experiences on a global scale as it ramps up AI investments through 2027.
