Janaen Salalah: Oman’s new visionary agritourism destination blends sustainability, hospitality, innovation

Residents and guests will have access to eco-recreation zones, spaces for wellness and environmental education, and programs designed to support farm-to-table initiatives.

OMAN – Salalah has launched the ambitious Janaen Salalah project, which has brought together agriculture, hospitality, eco-recreation, and investment under one integrated development, positioning Oman as a regional leader in sustainable agritourism.

This transformative project, led by Omran Group through its subsidiary, Agritourism Development Company, is taking shape in the fertile Arzat area of Salalah, aiming to attract both local and international visitors as well as investors.

Janaen Salalah covers an expansive 5.5 million square metres and is designed to blend modern living with agricultural engagement.

The complex will feature 250 residential units surrounded by lush landscapes, a 128-key five-star hotel offering luxury accommodations, and dedicated processing facilities for coconuts and papayas.

Residents and guests will have access to eco-recreation zones, spaces for wellness and environmental education, and programs designed to support farm-to-table initiatives.

The project has been granted Integrated Tourism Complex (ITC) status by Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

This designation allows for foreign ownership of property and businesses within the development, significantly boosting its appeal to international investors and ensuring broader participation in Oman’s agritourism sector.

A recent field visit, led by H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and H E Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, marked a symbolic step forward.

The event included the ceremonial planting of the site’s first coconut trees and a review of ongoing progress in developing multiple project components.

Omran Group has reported several key achievements under Phase 1 of the project.

The concept masterplan is complete, feasibility studies have confirmed the business case, and an experienced agriculture contractor has been appointed.

Plantation works have already begun, grounding the project’s agricultural ambitions with tangible progress.

Janaen Salalah stands as more than just a tourism venture. It has been envisioned as a model for integrating investment, education, environmental stewardship, wellness, and authentic Omani hospitality in a single location.

With its launch, Oman has positioned itself as a leader in innovative agritourism, offering a blueprint for sustainable development and international collaboration in the Gulf region.
