Gulf Air resumes scheduled flights to Baghdad, Najaf Amman

The suspension of flights to Baghdad, Najaf, and Amman was a precautionary measure amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty.

BAHRAIN – Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air, has resumed its scheduled flights to and from Baghdad and Najaf in Iraq, as well as Amman in Jordan.

This resumption started on June 28, 2025.

The airline had temporarily suspended these routes due to regional tensions but reinstated regular services following improved security assessments and stabilization in the area.

Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is one of the Middle East’s oldest and most established airlines, serving as a key connector between Bahrain and major cities across the region and beyond.

Over the decades, Gulf Air has expanded its network to cover more than 50 destinations in 28 countries, operating a modern fleet including Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Its main hub at Bahrain International Airport remains a strategic gateway for travelers in the Gulf.

The suspension of flights to Baghdad, Najaf, and Amman was a precautionary measure amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty.

However, Gulf Air’s leadership carefully evaluated the evolving situation and prioritized passenger safety when deciding to restore these important routes.

The resumption supports the airline’s mission to maintain vital air links for business, tourism, and family travel within the region.

By reopening these routes, Gulf Air has strengthened connectivity between Bahrain and key cities in Iraq and Jordan, facilitating economic exchange and cultural ties.

The airline continues to compete in a dynamic Middle Eastern aviation market, and reinstating flights to these destinations reflects its commitment to serving essential regional corridors.

Passengers traveling through Bahrain International Airport can now access these destinations with enhanced confidence, as Gulf Air maintains rigorous health and safety protocols aligned with international standards.

The airline remains vigilant in monitoring regional developments and is prepared to adjust its operations as necessary to ensure continued safety and reliability.

The return of Gulf Air flights to Baghdad, Najaf, and Amman represents a positive step toward normalizing air travel in a region where connectivity plays a critical role in social and economic resilience. Gulf Air’s renewed services underline its ongoing dedication to linking Bahrain with its neighbors and the wider world.
