DoorDash completes US$1.2B acquisition of hospitality software provider SevenRooms to enhance commerce platform

DoorDash’s acquisition follows its earlier purchase of UK-based food delivery competitor Deliveroo for approximately US$3.9 billion, announced in May 2025, further extending its global footprint.

USA – Online food ordering and delivery platform DoorDash has completed its acquisition of SevenRooms, a New York City-based hospitality software company specializing in customer relationship management (CRM), reservations, and guest experience tools.

The US$1.2 billion deal, finalized in June 2025, marks a significant expansion of DoorDash’s Commerce Platform capabilities, aiming to bolster in-store sales, strengthen customer relationships, and increase profitability for merchants by integrating SevenRooms’ technology into its existing ecosystem.

Founded in 2011, SevenRooms offers best-in-class tools that help restaurants, hotels, and hospitality businesses deepen guest engagement, streamline operations, and drive revenue growth through advanced CRM, reservations management, waitlist coordination, and marketing automation.

The platform empowers hospitality operators to own their guest data and deliver personalized experiences, a feature that distinguishes it from competitors.

Since PSG’s initial investment in 2020, SevenRooms has expanded its customer base from approximately 2,000 venues to over 13,000 worldwide, including prominent brands like MGM Resorts and Marriott International.

DoorDash’s acquisition follows its earlier purchase of UK-based food delivery competitor Deliveroo for approximately US$3.9 billion, announced in May 2025, further extending its global footprint.

The integration of SevenRooms complements this strategy by enhancing DoorDash’s offerings beyond delivery logistics to include in-person hospitality and commerce solutions.

Parisa Sadrzadeh, DoorDash’s Vice President of Strategy and Operations, emphasized that the combined platform will enable local businesses to grow across all channels, delivery, pickup, reservations, and in-person services, while maintaining an open, partner-friendly ecosystem.

SevenRooms’ leadership will join DoorDash to continue innovating and expanding the platform.

Co-founder Joel Montaniel highlighted the shared mission to help hospitality operators understand their guests better, build deeper relationships, and grow sustainably both inside and outside their physical venues.

The acquisition is expected to close regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, with both companies maintaining independent operations until then.

This strategic move positions DoorDash as a comprehensive commerce platform provider for the hospitality industry, offering merchants integrated tools to enhance guest experiences, optimize operations, and drive profitability across first-party and third-party channels.

It also signals DoorDash’s commitment to supporting the evolving needs of restaurants and hospitality businesses in a competitive global market.
