The new facility will feature 10 multipurpose halls with a combined capacity of up to 2,000 guests.
GHANA – Accra City Hotel has announced the July 2025 opening of its highly anticipated Events Centre—a transformative development poised to redefine Ghana’s position in Africa’s hospitality and events landscape.
Designed to meet the growing demand for premium event spaces, the new facility will feature 10 multipurpose halls with a combined capacity of up to 2,000 guests.
More than just a venue, the Events Centre is being hailed as a strategic investment in Ghana’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.
“As Accra evolves into a top-tier business and tourism hub, the Events Centre reflects our vision to meet rising demand with world-class solutions,” the hotel said in a statement.
“This is about creating an ecosystem that drives economic activity while offering exceptional experiences.”
The project comes at a pivotal moment. Accra is witnessing a surge in international events, destination weddings, and business summits, with increasing interest from multinational corporations and global organizations.
Yet, until now, the city lacked a purpose-built facility of this calibre. The launch of the Events Centre is set to bridge that gap—boosting Accra’s appeal as a leading MICE destination in West Africa.
Economically, the ripple effects are expected to be far-reaching. The anticipated influx of large-scale gatherings will drive demand across the hospitality value chain, benefiting hotels, restaurants, transport providers, and local vendors.
It will also generate significant employment opportunities—from event planners and chefs to logistics teams and support staff—raising service standards and expanding local skillsets.
Tourism stakeholders have expressed optimism about the development’s potential to elevate Ghana’s global visibility.
As Accra competes with regional heavyweights like Lagos and Abidjan for high-profile events, the Events Centre offers a compelling new incentive for business travellers, delegates, and exhibitors seeking world-class facilities in a culturally rich setting.
The Events Centre is part of a broader upgrade to the hotel’s infrastructure. Additions include a multi-storey car park to ease logistical congestion and a signature African restaurant that will offer both traditional and continental cuisine.
“We are redefining event catering by showcasing Ghana’s culinary diversity with a world-class touch,” the hotel added.
Sustainability is also at the heart of the project. The hotel has committed to preserving its green spaces and adopting environmentally responsible practices, aligning the development with global trends in eco-conscious hospitality.
With its blend of scale, sophistication, and sustainability, Accra City Hotel’s new Events Centre is set to become a cornerstone of Ghana’s next chapter in international tourism and business.
