The college has now generated over KES 3 billion (US$23 million) in cumulative revenue by 2024.
KENYA – The Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC) is celebrating a decade of excellence with a remarkable 166-fold increase in revenue since its establishment in 2015.
Starting with a modest KES 17.8 million (US$137,996), the college has now generated over KES 3 billion (US$23 million) in cumulative revenue by 2024, cementing its position as a premier institution in hospitality and culinary arts training in Kenya and the region.
Founded with a vision to transform hospitality education, BIHC has trained over 6,000 graduates and upskilled more than 2,400 professionals working in the industry.
These numbers reflect not only the institution’s strong academic foundation but also its contribution to Kenya’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.
“This first decade has laid a strong foundation, and we are just getting started,” said Mike Macharia, Chair of the BIHC Board and CEO of the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers.
“The results we are seeing reflect the dedication of our staff, students, and strategic partners.”
Over the last years, BIHC has accelerated its growth and visibility through several strategic initiatives.
In late 2023, the institution launched the “Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow” program, aimed at mentoring high school students across Kenya and promoting hospitality as a viable and prestigious career.
Early 2024 saw the inauguration of a state-of-the-art pastry and bakery innovation lab, which has expanded the scope of culinary training to meet global standards.
In February 2024, BIHC entered into new partnerships with leading hotel brands in the UAE and South Africa, securing internship and job placements for its students abroad.
The college also expanded its digital learning platform, making short professional courses available online, particularly targeting working professionals in East Africa who seek flexible upskilling opportunities.
BIHC’s strong international affiliation with the Business and Hotel Management School (BHMS) in Lucerne, Switzerland continues to give its students access to Swiss-accredited dual qualifications and career opportunities in 47 countries across five continents.
These milestones have not gone unnoticed. In 2024, BIHC was named Best Hospitality School in Kenya at the prestigious Tourism Excellence Awards and earned a spot among Africa’s Top 50 Most Influential Food and Beverage Brands by Cookery Zone.
As it begins its second decade, BIHC is positioning itself to lead the charge in reshaping hospitality education in Africa.
