Careem launches ‘Meals:On’ in Abu Dhabi to offer affordable solo dining deals

UAE – Careem has introduced ‘Meals:On’ in Abu Dhabi, a new feature under Careem Food that aims to simplify solo food orders and make high-quality meals more affordable for individuals dining alone.

Careem Food has launched ‘Meals:On’, a new offering tailored for solo diners who seek value, convenience, and quality.

The service provides a curated selection of complete meals, typically including a main dish, side salad, and drink, from top local and international restaurants, all priced under AED 29 (US$8).

These deals are available in a dedicated section within the Careem app, allowing for seamless one-tap ordering.

According to Careem’s internal data, more than 64% of Careem Food users in the UAE typically order solo meals during lunch hours, indicating strong demand for affordable meal bundles for one.

The new service takes inspiration from Munch:On, the solo-meal platform that Careem acquired in 2022. Meals:On has since been reimagined within Careem Food to better meet the needs of today’s solo diners.

Jaskaran Singh, Vice President of Careem Food, explained that the launch aligned with Careem’s broader mission to simplify life in the region.

 He noted that solo diners often feel overwhelmed by choices and burdened by the high cost of individual meals, particularly during a busy workday or late-night cravings.

According to Singh, Meals:On was designed to remove this friction by offering high-quality, affordable meals that require minimal effort to order.

The service was first introduced in Abu Dhabi and is expected to launch in Dubai in the coming weeks. Future enhancements are also planned, including options for two or more people, scheduled meals, meal plans, and group bundles.

Meals:On showcases a strong lineup of restaurants such as Wagamama, Wingstop, Just Burger, Zaatar w Zeit, Barbar, Papa Johns, Right Bite, Sushi Do, Costa, and Allo Beirut.

Careem Plus members benefit from free delivery on all Meals:On orders, even those below AED 30. They also gain access to added perks across other Careem services, including groceries, DineOut discounts, Careem Pay offers, and cashback on rides.

Abu Dhabi users can access the new offering by updating their Careem app and tapping on the ‘Meals:On’ section under Careem Food.
