HMH announces major expansion in Saudi Arabia to support Kingdom’s tourism growth

Formerly operated under Accor’s Mercure brand, the Al Khobar property will now become part of HMH’s expanding portfolio, reinforcing the company’s presence in the Kingdom.

SAUDI ARABIA – Hospitality Management Holdings (HMH) has unveiled a significant expansion plan in Saudi Arabia, adding new properties across key destinations in support of the Kingdom’s rapidly growing tourism sector.

As part of its strategic growth initiative, Hospitality Management Holding (HMH) has signed an agreement to operate the Corp Al Khobar Corniche Hotel, a 157-room property overlooking the Khobar waterfront in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

Additionally, the group has entered into a memorandum of understanding for a new hotel development in Dammam.

Formerly operated under Accor’s Mercure brand, the Al Khobar property will now become part of HMH’s expanding portfolio, reinforcing the company’s presence in the Kingdom.

This development comes as HMH prepares to open its flagship 460-room hotel in Makkah by mid-2025.

Scheduled to begin operations after the Hajj season, the Makkah hotel is expected to serve as a cornerstone of HMH’s faith-based tourism offerings, specifically designed to accommodate the millions of pilgrims visiting the holy city each year.

Several additional projects are also underway across Saudi Arabia, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s rapidly evolving tourism landscape.

HMH’s Chief Operating Officer, Haytham Abdelaziz, noted that Saudi Arabia remains a strategic priority in the group’s expansion roadmap.

He stated that the company’s objectives align closely with Vision 2030’s transformative tourism agenda and the growing demand for premium hospitality.

He explained that the addition of the Al Khobar property strengthens HMH’s foothold in the Eastern Province, while the forthcoming Makkah hotel positions the group at the heart of religious tourism.

Abdelaziz also pointed out that with over 6,000 rooms either operational or in development across the region, HMH is committed to contributing to the national target of attracting 150 million visitors annually by 2030.

The Corp Al Khobar Corniche Hotel is set to serve both corporate and leisure travelers, while the Makkah property will focus on meeting the specific needs of religious tourists.

These developments are part of a broader strategy to establish HMH in key cities throughout Saudi Arabia and enhance the country’s hospitality infrastructure.

This marks HMH’s 15th consecutive participation in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), highlighting the group’s long-standing engagement with the region’s leading tourism platform.

With a solid reputation for operational excellence and a robust pipeline, HMH continues to cement its role as a trusted player in the Middle East’s hospitality sector.
