7th Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari draws 1,000+ visitors for “Hike & Dine in the Clouds” experience

Participants embarked on an exhilarating hike along trails enveloped in cloud mist and rolling green hills, culminating in a luxurious “Dine in the Clouds” feast at the summit, a highlight that captured the essence of the adventure.

NIGERIA – The 7th edition of the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari, themed “Hike & Dine in the Clouds,” raised the bar for destination tourism in Ekiti State, Nigeria, as more than 1,000 adventurers, dignitaries, and celebrities gathered at Sagbonke Mountain in Efon-Alaaye on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025.

The event, organized by Discover Ekiti Tourism Club in collaboration with the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development and the Efon-Alaaye-in-Council, was declared a resounding success by organizers and participants alike.

Participants embarked on an exhilarating hike along trails enveloped in cloud mist and rolling green hills, culminating in a luxurious “Dine in the Clouds” feast at the summit, a highlight that captured the essence of the adventure.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who officially flagged off the hike, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Ekiti’s tourism sector into a world-class industry.

He stressed the vital role tourism plays in driving economic growth and preserving and showcasing the state’s rich cultural and natural heritage.

The large turnout was widely regarded as a testament to the growing momentum behind Ekiti’s eco-tourism revolution.

Organizers noted that the success of the 7th Edition of the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari had firmly positioned Efon-Alaaye and the Mountain of Clouds as emerging stars in Nigeria’s eco-tourism landscape, signaling a new era for tourism development in Ekiti State.

With strong support from sponsors and the Ekiti State government, stakeholders expressed confidence that future editions of the event would continue to spotlight the state’s natural beauty and cultural vibrancy to both national and international audiences.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, praised the overwhelming turnout and commended the growing enthusiasm surrounding Ekiti’s eco-tourism initiatives.

He described the event as a powerful indicator that the state’s efforts to develop sustainable tourism were beginning to yield tangible results.

Michael Peculiar Ekiran, Founder of Discover Ekiti Tourism Club and Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism Development, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Ekiti State government, corporate sponsors, and the Efon community for their invaluable support.

He emphasized that their collaborative spirit had been instrumental in making the event a success.
