GREECE – IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of two new properties in Crete, Greece: The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection, and Kimpton La Mer Crete.

Two new luxury hotels are set to debut in Greece by IHG Hotels & Resorts, marking the expansion of its portfolio in the country.

These additions will see three IHG brands represented on the island of Crete, following the opening of InterContinental Crete in 2024.

The first of these properties, The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection, will be located in the heart of Chania, close to the city’s port and market.

Scheduled to open in 2025, the hotel will offer 39 guestrooms, an array of dining options including a rooftop bar and a la carte restaurant, and a wellness centre with a rooftop heated plunge pool.

The hotel is set to provide a unique, responsible travel experience for guests looking to enjoy the cultural richness of the region.

The second hotel, Kimpton La Mer Crete, is slated for a 2026 opening. Situated halfway between Chania and Rethymno, this luxury beachfront property will feature 76 guestrooms and provide guests with direct access to the scenic Georgioupolis beach.

With two restaurants, a state-of-the-art spa, and an indoor seaside pool, Kimpton La Mer Crete promises to be a world-class beach resort.

The hotel’s prime location, just 20 minutes from Chania Airport, ensures easy access to the island’s best attractions.

These new hotels will further strengthen IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which already includes InterContinental Crete.

IHG has also announced the upcoming Six Senses Megalonisos in Greece, solidifying its presence in the country’s high-end tourism market.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President of Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed excitement about partnering with Gelasakis Group to debut these brands in Greece.

Antonis Gelasakis, CEO of Gelasakis Group, echoed the sentiment, noting that Greece’s rich history and natural beauty continue to attract travelers from across the globe.

This collaboration reflects the increasing demand for luxury offerings in Greece and the growing appeal of the IHG portfolio in the region.
