USA – Culinary and support services provider Forefront has announced a strategic partnership with Leanpath to roll out AI-enabled food waste management systems across its kitchens.
Forefront has teamed up with Leanpath to address food waste across its operations, aiming to improve both efficiency and sustainability.
The collaboration introduces Leanpath’s AI-powered technology at four Forefront client sites, providing valuable insights into the causes of food waste and offering actionable data to enhance operations.
Rob Pasos, the president of Forefront Culinary and Nutrition Services, explained that like most culinary-focused companies, Forefront has been looking for ways to manage the rising cost of food without passing these increases on to their clients.
He noted that Leanpath’s technology offered a clear solution for managing food waste, aligning with the company’s efforts to integrate more sustainable practices.
Leanpath’s AI-driven platform helps Forefront’s culinary teams identify the underlying causes of food waste, allowing them to implement operational changes that lead to waste reduction, cost savings, and better sustainability practices.
The technology supports Forefront’s mission of providing regionally inspired menus using locally sourced ingredients, while also focusing on reducing waste.
Food waste continues to be a significant global issue, with one-third of food produced worldwide going to waste.
In the foodservice sector, it is estimated that between 5% and 15% of food purchases are wasted, creating both financial losses and environmental damage.
Andrew Shakman, the founder and CEO of Leanpath, shared that many kitchens lack visibility into the specific causes of food waste.
He emphasized that Leanpath’s technology provides data that helps culinary teams prevent waste before it occurs, using AI and behavioural science to drive change in the kitchen.
