Uber Partners with OpenTable to elevate global dining experiences

This collaboration aims to create a seamless dining experience by allowing users to book tables, arrange transportation, and access exclusive membership perks through the Uber and OpenTable apps.

GLOBAL – Ride-hailing and food delivery giant Uber has formed a strategic partnership with restaurant technology platform OpenTable, a subsidiary of Booking Holdings, to enhance dining experiences worldwide by offering seamless integration between ride-hailing and dining, providing greater convenience for consumers.

Uber and OpenTable have announced a strategic partnership to integrate ride-hailing, food delivery, and restaurant reservations across Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, the UK, and the US.

This collaboration aims to create a seamless dining experience by allowing users to book tables, arrange transportation, and access exclusive membership perks through the Uber and OpenTable apps.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized that the initiative is designed to enhance convenience for users, making it easier to discover and visit restaurants.

He added that Uber One members would benefit from additional features as part of this integration. The rollout will occur in phases throughout 2025, gradually incorporating dining reservations, ride coordination, and membership benefits into a unified system.

The partnership is expected to support over one million restaurants that already work with Uber and OpenTable by helping them attract more customers and increase revenue.

OpenTable CEO Debby Soo highlighted how the collaboration strategically aligns dining, delivery, and transportation services, streamlining daily experiences for both restaurants and guests.

She noted that this integration is a step toward making restaurant outings more convenient and frictionless.

Beyond OpenTable, Uber is also strengthening its presence in the hospitality sector through a separate partnership with Darden Restaurants.

In March 2025, Uber Technologies launched an on-demand delivery pilot program at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, an American casual dining chain owned by Darden.

The pilot, currently operating at ten locations, allows customers to place orders directly through Cheddar’s website and app while Uber Direct manages the logistics of last-mile delivery.

Following the success of a similar pilot at Olive Garden, Cheddar’s plans to expand the program across its restaurant network. Darden CIO Chris Chang explained that lessons learned from the Olive Garden trial helped refine the model for Cheddar’s, ensuring a smooth rollout.

Uber Eats VP for the Americas, Sarfraz Maredia, emphasized that restaurants’ needs are evolving rapidly, and Uber is focused on delivering innovative solutions that simplify operations and enhance customer experiences.

By merging dining, delivery, and transportation into an integrated platform, Uber continues to expand its ecosystem, reinforcing its position in the hospitality and food service industries while driving greater convenience for customers and business partners alike.
