HopYacht expands fleet with the launch of HopYacht Cruise, an all-electric catamaran

SOUTH AFRICA – South African innovator HopYacht, renowned for its eco-friendly, all-electric catamarans, has announced it is preparing to unveil its newest fleet vessel, the HopYacht Cruise.

A new eco-sightseeing model, designed for marine leisure tourism, is set to join the HopYacht 30 family in 2025, with the first unit scheduled to launch in 2026.

This innovative vessel, known as the HopYacht Cruise, features electric propulsion and solar panels that power a 30kWh battery bank, ensuring it operates with zero emissions.

Developed by HopYacht, a company founded in 2021 with a focus on creating compact, electric-powered boats that minimize environmental impact, the HopYacht Cruise is engineered to comfortably accommodate 14 to 18 passengers.

Its design incorporates sustainable elements such as holding tanks to prevent pollution in delicate waterways and enables autonomous low-speed travel powered by solar energy, making it a practical option for tour operators seeking eco-friendly alternatives.

Co-founder Paul Tomes explained that while some adventurers pursue extreme challenges like scaling Mount Everest, there is a substantial market of urban dwellers who seek a more relaxed encounter with nature.

He noted that waterborne sightseeing provides the dual benefit of enjoying a leisurely boat ride while observing landscapes from a unique perspective, thereby enriching the overall experience.

Similarly, co-founder Mary-Clare Tomes expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating that the company was excited about the potential of the HopYacht Cruise to unlock new opportunities in adventure tourism.

She added that by offering a sustainable means to explore sensitive marine environments, operators can deliver meaningful experiences to guests while safeguarding the natural world.

With several HopYacht 30 yachts already in operation across the Northern Hemisphere, the company is steadily expanding its footprint.

This growth not only contributes to local job creation but also supports the development of sustainable tourism in regions such as South Africa.

The introduction of the HopYacht Cruise is expected to further cement HopYacht’s reputation as a leader in environmentally responsible marine leisure tourism, offering a serene and sustainable way to explore the world’s most sensitive marine landscapes.

Furthermore, the innovative design of the HopYacht Cruise not only supports environmental conservation but also aligns with a global shift towards eco-friendly leisure activities, attracting discerning travelers and promoting sustainable tourism practices worldwide.
