Minor Hotels brings NH Collection to Ghana, marking West Africa debut with 200-key Accra property

The development’s mixed-use nature, combining retail and office components alongside the hotel, creates an integrated ecosystem that enhances convenience for business travelers and long-term guests alike.

GHANA – Minor Hotels has signed its first property in West Africa, introducing the NH Collection brand to Ghana with a 200-key hotel in central Accra.

The announcement, made during THINC Middle East 2026, targets a 2030 opening and forms part of the group’s strategic expansion across African gateway cities.

The property will anchor a mixed-use development by Swami India Ghana Limited, incorporating hotel, retail, and office space in one of the region’s fastest-growing markets.

Prime Location for Business and Diplomacy

The hotel’s location is carefully chosen for maximum strategic advantage.

Situated near Jubilee House, Ghana’s presidential palace, and within easy reach of Kotoka International Airport, the property is positioned to capture strong demand from corporate travelers, diplomatic delegations, and long-stay guests.

Central Accra’s status as the nation’s political and commercial heart makes it an ideal entry point for Minor Hotels’ West African ambitions.

Meeting Premium Supply Gaps in a Growing Market

The project addresses a clear market need. Accra’s premium hotel segment has faced capacity constraints amid growing international business activity and diplomatic presence.

By adding 200 well-appointed rooms, the NH Collection will bolster the city’s ability to host corporate events, government meetings, and international visitors.

The development’s mixed-use nature, combining retail and office components alongside the hotel, creates an integrated ecosystem that enhances convenience for business travelers and long-term guests alike.

Minor Hotels’ African Gateway Strategy

The Accra signing represents a calculated step in Minor Hotels’ broader expansion across Africa’s key gateway cities.

The group already operates properties in other African markets and views the continent’s growing economies and improving air connectivity as significant opportunities.

Ghana, with its stable democracy, English-speaking workforce, and role as a regional business hub, offers an attractive entry point for the NH Collection brand.

Economic and Tourism Implications

For Ghana, the arrival of a globally recognized brand like NH Collection signals continued investor confidence in the country’s hospitality sector.

The development will create construction jobs, permanent hospitality positions, and opportunities for local suppliers. It also strengthens Accra’s ability to compete for international conferences and business events by adding premium room inventory.

As Ghana positions itself as a gateway to West Africa, quality accommodation options become increasingly critical.
