Teams built AI tour guides that personalize itineraries, AR-led storytelling that brings ancient history to life, predictive demand insights that help tourism operators prepare for visitor surges, and real-time translation tools that break down language barriers.

EGYPT – Capgemini has brought together 24 of Egypt’s brightest university students and young graduates to reimagine the visitor journey through artificial intelligence.
The ”Hack the Future of Tourism in Egypt” hackathon, held during the AI Everything Middle East & Africa 2026 Summit, challenged six multidisciplinary teams to design and prototype AI applications covering the entire tourist experience, from trip planning to on-site engagement.
From Concept to Prototype in Two Days
Participants didn’t just show up with ideas.
They were hosted at Capgemini’s Cairo premises for a Design Thinking Workshop delivered by company experts, where they learned to understand user needs, brainstorm creatively, and prototype rapidly in structured problem-solving sessions.
Then, over two intense days at the summit, they transformed those concepts into working prototypes with hands-on guidance from Capgemini mentors, all part of the company’s volunteering commitment to developing local talent.
Real Solutions for Real Tourism Challenges
The prototypes tackled genuine pain points in Egypt’s tourism experience.
Teams built AI tour guides that personalize itineraries, AR-led storytelling that brings ancient history to life, predictive demand insights that help tourism operators prepare for visitor surges, and real-time translation tools that break down language barriers.
Each solution combined data-driven approaches with human-centered design, ensuring technology serves people, not the other way around.
A Prize That Launches Careers
The stakes were high.
The top three teams earned enrollment in the Capgemini Egypt Young Professionals Program (YPP) , a structured career accelerator offering advanced training, mentorship, and exposure to global projects.
It’s not just a prize, it’s a launchpad for careers in digital innovation, connecting young Egyptians to real client challenges through Capgemini’s Global Delivery Center and its newly established AI Center of Excellence in Cairo.
Building Egypt’s AI Future Locally
Hossam Seifeldin, CEO of Capgemini Egypt, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative.
“Through this hackathon, we are empowering young talent to develop practical, scalable solutions with real impact,” he said.
With tourism welcoming nearly 19 million visitors in 2025, innovations born in Cairo could soon shape how the world experiences Egypt’s timeless wonders.
