The robots will provide a seamless last-mile delivery solution, improving customer experience and operational efficiency for merchants on the Uber Eats platform.

UK – Ride-hailing and delivery giant Uber has partnered with Starship Technologies to introduce autonomous robot food deliveries across the UK starting December 2025, initially focused in Leeds and Sheffield.

This innovative service will employ AI-powered delivery robots that operate at Level 4 autonomy, capable of navigating sidewalks and completing orders up to two miles in under 30 minutes without the need for human monitoring or intervention.

Starship CEO Ahti Heinla emphasized that the partnership is building the infrastructure defining the future of urban logistics.

Uber’s global delivery platform, trusted by millions in over 10,000 cities, will integrate with Starship’s scalable autonomous technology to deliver reliable, cost-effective services.

The partnership will expand to multiple European markets in 2026, with plans to launch in the US by 2027.

The program utilizes Starship’s fleet of over 2,700 robots, which have completed more than nine million deliveries across seven countries.

The robots will provide a seamless last-mile delivery solution, improving customer experience and operational efficiency for merchants on the Uber Eats platform.

Uber’s Global Head of Autonomous Sarfraz Maredia stated that autonomous delivery is vital to Uber Eats’ future, highlighting how the combined expertise of both companies can deliver transformative results in food logistics worldwide.

This launch marks a significant evolution in urban food delivery, reducing reliance on traditional delivery personnel, cutting costs, and enabling environmentally friendlier operations.

The partnership’s expansion plans underscore growing confidence in autonomous technologies for commercial use, aiming to revolutionize last-mile delivery in the coming years.

Beyond autonomous robot deliveries with Starship, Uber Eats leverages AI for personalized meal recommendations and predictive ordering, increasing efficiency and customer loyalty.

The platform supports drone and self-driving vehicle delivery trials to reduce reliance on human drivers. Its enhanced Uber Eats Manager app empowers merchants with real-time menu and customer analytics accessible via mobile.

Integrations with point-of-sale systems automate order workflows, reducing manual input errors. Additionally, Uber is deploying thousands of Gen3 autonomous delivery robots in US cities, aiming to cut delivery costs substantially.

These innovations collectively boost speed, reduce costs, and improve the experience for consumers and restaurants alike.
