This partnership enables Qatar Airways customers easier access to Algiers and six additional important destinations in Air Algérie’s domestic network.

QATAR/ALGERIA – Qatar Airways and Air Algérie have announced a new codeshare partnership that has greatly enhanced seamless connectivity between Algeria and key markets in Asia and the Middle East.

The agreement, effective November 15, 2025, builds on an existing interline partnership and allows travelers to book codeshare flights starting today.

This partnership enables Qatar Airways customers easier access to Algiers and six additional important destinations in Air Algérie’s domestic network, including Annaba, Constantine, Oran, Tamanrasset, Timimoun, and Tindouf.

Privilege Club members of Qatar Airways also earn Avios points when flying on Air Algérie codeshare flights.

Likewise, Air Algérie passengers benefit from expanded options to travel to Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Muscat via Hamad International Airport, with plans to include additional destinations soon.

Thierry Antinori, Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about deepening the strategic partnership, emphasizing enhanced global connectivity through Hamad International Airport, recognized as the “Best Airport in the Middle East” for 11 consecutive years and “World’s Best Airport” in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Samy El Karim Boutemadja, Head of Commercial Division at Air Algérie, highlighted how this codeshare will boost Air Algérie’s presence in the Middle East and Asia, promoting travel to Algeria and expanding connections via its Algiers hub.

Qatar Airways currently operates 213 weekly flights to 30 cities in 21 African countries under 30 interline and six codeshare agreements.

Qatar Airways has made substantial investments in Northern Africa as part of its broader strategy to deepen its presence on the continent.

The airline has expanded flight frequencies and routes connecting Doha with key African cities, including Algiers, Casablanca, and Cairo, enhancing business and leisure travel opportunities.

It has also entered strategic partnerships with several regional carriers, such as Air Algérie and Royal Air Maroc, enabling expanded connectivity through codeshare agreements and shared networks.

Significant financial commitments include investments in infrastructure such as airport upgrades and partnerships supporting regional airlines.

Qatar Airways also holds a 60% stake in RwandAir and a 25% share in South Africa’s Airlink, illustrating its long-term commitment to African aviation growth.

These strategic moves position Qatar Airways as a pivotal gateway between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, leveraging Hamad International Airport to facilitate seamless travel and foster economic ties.
