TTSSP, TTB partner to launch 10 new tourist information centres across Tanzania to enhance visitor experience

Each Tourist Information Centre will be staffed with highly trained professionals possessing extensive tourism knowledge and the ability to communicate in multiple languages, including English, Swahili, French, German, and Chinese.

TANZANIA – A joint venture between the Tanzania Tourism Sector Safety & Protection Unit (TTSSP) and the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) has announced plans to establish 10 new Tourist Information Centres at major ports of entry and key attractions.

This initiative aims to provide visitors with an enriched tourism experience across the country.

These centres will offer up-to-date information about Tanzania’s diverse tourist attractions, safety concerns, important events, and other essential services within a welcoming and professional environment.

They are designed to meet the needs of international and local tourists alike.

Each Tourist Information Centre will employ highly skilled staff with extensive tourism expertise, capable of communicating in multiple languages, including English, Swahili, French, German, and Chinese.

This multilingual approach ensures accessibility for a wide range of visitors.

The centres will be equipped with fast internet, interactive touch screens, maps, videos, and printed materials to provide engaging and comprehensive information.

These technologies will assist tourists in navigating the country’s famed natural and cultural destinations.

A specialised research team affiliated with the centres will conduct ongoing in-depth analysis to identify new potential attractions, such as hidden caves, waterfalls, unique traditions, and rare wildlife habitats. This will help diversify Tanzania’s tourism offerings.

Dr. Majaliwa Maswila, Chief Executive Secretary at TTSSP, stated, “Our research team will collaborate closely with natural and cultural experts, as well as travel professionals, to create tourism packages that combine both new and established attractions, targeting diverse tourist groups.”

The scheme also includes plans to establish strategic partnerships with tour operators, hotels, airlines, and transport companies.

These collaborations aim to enhance service quality and provide seamless travel experiences for tourists.

A robust data collection system will be implemented to monitor tourist numbers, visitation patterns, feedback, and safety-related issues.

This data will inform management decisions and policy development for Tanzania’s tourism sector.

This initiative underlines Tanzania’s commitment to sustainable tourism development, ensuring visitor safety, and promoting lesser-known attractions in a controlled and informed manner.

Together, TTSSP and TTB are positioning Tanzania as a top travel destination by enhancing visitor services, boosting local economies, and preserving the country’s unique heritage and biodiversity.

The Tourist Information Centres project is expected to significantly improve tourist satisfaction and strengthen Tanzania’s global tourism reputation.
