The new feature enables customers to request car-based deliveries for oversized items, enhancing the versatility of Careem’s food delivery and local market services.

UAE – Careem has enhanced its popular on-demand delivery platform with the launch of Box XL in Dubai, expanding its food delivery and pickup service to include larger items that were previously too big for bike deliveries.
This new option allows customers to request car-based deliveries for oversized goods, making Careem’s food delivery and local market service more versatile.
Nearly 20% of Careem Box users expressed the need to send bigger items such as home appliances, computer monitors, and larger purchases from marketplaces like Dubizzle.
Careem responded with Box XL to meet this growing demand, enabling quick and reliable delivery of larger food orders, groceries, and essential purchases.
This service will soon roll out in Abu Dhabi and Amman, with city-to-city deliveries launching shortly.
Since its 2022 launch, Careem Box has become a trusted choice for quick delivery across Dubai, handling everything from forgotten passports to hot meals.
Over 900,000 customers have used the platform to order food from restaurants that don’t traditionally offer delivery.
Box XL expands this convenience to larger food orders or catering meals, elevating the on-demand food delivery experience.
Customers simply select ‘Box’ in the Careem app, with Box XL providing car deliveries instead of bike pickups for bulkier items.
Careem Plus members benefit from free food delivery and exclusive discounts, enhancing affordability. The platform’s real-time tracking ensures customers stay informed about their deliveries from restaurant to doorstep.
Emad Gharzuddine, General Manager of Careem Box, said, “Careem Box is the trusted choice for delivering meals and essentials quickly in Dubai. Box XL brings even greater convenience for larger food orders and items that need car transport.”
The service also includes ‘Box Purchase,’ allowing drivers to shop and deliver items for customers, broadening use cases beyond traditional food delivery.
By adding Box XL, Careem strengthens its position as a food delivery leader in the Middle East.
The expanded service network, combined with quick commerce logistics, addresses evolving consumer needs and reinforces Careem’s mission to simplify everyday life through fast, reliable food and item deliveries.
