Yum! Brands rolls out AI-powered Byte platform to enhance customer, employee experience, Taco Bell leads digital customization drive

The platform simplifies the process for customers to personalize their digital orders via Taco Bell’s app and website.

GLOBAL – Yum! Brands has announced it is expanding the rollout of Byte, its AI-powered technology platform designed to enhance both customer and employee experiences across its major fast-food chains.

Executives revealed during the Q2 2025 earnings call that Byte is streamlining operations and improving digital ordering, driving significant growth in sales and satisfaction.

Chris Turner, Yum!’s Chief Financial and Franchise Officer, who is set to become CEO in October 2025, highlighted Taco Bell’s use of Byte as a key success story.

The platform makes it easier for customers to customize digital orders through Taco Bell’s app and online systems.

This enhanced ease of use contributes directly to overall sales growth and strengthens customer loyalty.

Turner emphasized that seamless digital experiences are vital to attracting and retaining consumers in a competitive fast-food market.

Beyond digital ordering, Yum! Brands is leveraging AI through Byte to implement a “voice of the consumer” tool.

This tool aggregates customer feedback and reviews from social media, online platforms, and third-party sites.

CEO David Gibbs explained that using this consolidated AI-powered feedback allows Yum! to optimize restaurant operations by identifying areas for improvement and swiftly addressing consumer concerns.

This real-time insight helps enhance service quality and menu offerings across brands.

Turner also noted the deployment of AI-driven voice assistants in Taco Bell drive-thrus, now active in 600 locations.

These AI systems take orders and communicate directly with staff, reducing errors and workload.

This has led to lower employee turnover and improved operational efficiency. T

urner shared that the AI conversations were remarkably seamless, requiring staff intervention only once during extensive testing.

Overall, Byte by Yum!! integrates various technologies including online and mobile ordering, kitchen and delivery optimization, point of sale, menu and inventory management, as well as labor scheduling tools.

Together, these AI-driven solutions empower franchisees and teams to operate efficiently while delivering superior guest experiences.
