Developed in collaboration with Al-Wathba Hospitality Company through a usufruct agreement signed in February, the project is intended to elevate Salalah’s status as a leading tourism destination in the region.

OMAN – Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has officially commenced construction on an integrated tourism complex in Salalah, representing a major investment of RO80 million (US$208 million).
This initiative is positioned as a game-changing development in Oman’s hospitality sector thanks to its strategic location and extensive facilities designed to attract both domestic and international tourists.
Developed in partnership with Al-Wathba Hospitality Company under a usufruct agreement signed in February this year, the project aims to raise the profile of Salalah as a premier tourism destination in the region.
The agreement ensures that the site is managed with a long-term, sustainable vision, emphasizing modern amenities and world-class service standards.
Azzan Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, affirmed the importance of this project in supporting Oman’s broader goals.
He highlighted the project’s potential to empower small and medium enterprises, generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities, and significantly boost local content in the Dhofar Governorate.
Al Busaidi also stressed the focus on training and qualification programs for Omani citizens, ensuring local workforce participation in hospitality and tourism management.
Phase I of the ambitious complex, set for completion within 30 months, will feature a luxurious five-star hotel with 124 guest rooms.
The development will also include one of Oman’s largest yacht marinas, a collection of signature restaurants and cafes, as well as a beach club and a state-of-the-art health club.
These facilities are designed to meet diverse visitor interests while setting a new benchmark for tourism infrastructure in the Dhofar region.
Khalid Abdullah Al Abri, Director General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, described the project as one of the most prominent and diverse in terms of investment size and scope of offerings.
He noted that it forms a vital part of the governorate’s tourism strategy, which has intensified over recent years through the introduction of new tourism markets and direct flights to Salalah.
The Ministry has made robust efforts to position Dhofar as a leading tourism destination by continuously enhancing its infrastructure, marketing the region internationally, and creating compelling experiences for travelers.
These actions support a vision for economic diversification, skill development, and sustainable tourism growth.
