Uber Eats launches dine out program in Sydney, offering exclusive in-person dining deals

The Dine Out feature allows customers to unlock exclusive in-person offers at select restaurants directly via the Uber Eats app.

AUSTRALIA – Uber Eats has launched a new initiative called Dine Out with Uber Eats, aimed at providing users with exclusive dining offers at local restaurants.

Sydney is the first city worldwide to pilot this innovative programme, marking a strategic shift from delivery toward promoting dining out experiences.

The Dine Out feature enables customers to access special in-person deals at participating eateries directly through the Uber Eats app.

Users can browse offers, such as discounts or unique menu items, encouraging them to visit restaurants physically rather than ordering delivery.

This initiative supports local hospitality businesses by boosting foot traffic.

Sydney’s diverse and dynamic restaurant scene combined with its tech-savvy population made it the ideal launch city.

Uber Eats hopes the program will help restaurants attract new patrons, especially during slower business periods. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to revive the hospitality sector post-pandemic.

To celebrate the launch, Uber Eats is hosting House of Eats, a one-night pop-up dining event on August 8, 2025, curated by celebrated local chef Danielle Alvarez. \

The event features a four-course degustation showcasing exclusive dishes from partner restaurants like Catalina, Fabbrica, and Mary’s.

Highlights include Mary’s renowned fried chicken topped with caviar and Fabbrica’s signature cacio e pepe enhanced with bottarga.

The pop-up event will also present carefully paired wines from Sydney’s local wine bar P&V, providing guests with a unique culinary experience.

Peta Fitzgerald, Uber’s Director of Communications, explained that the Dine Out program reverses Uber Eats’ traditional delivery model.

The goal is to encourage physical dining, support Sydney’s food culture, and offer affordable dining options to a wide range of customers.

Through the Uber Eats app, diners can discover hundreds of dining deals across various cuisines and price points, making Sydney’s food scene more accessible and exciting.

This program provides restaurants new marketing tools and opportunities to increase capacity and visibility.

Uber Eats hopes Dine Out will provide a win-win situation: consumers receive great deals while restaurants benefit from higher footfall.

Given Sydney’s success, Uber plans to explore expanding the program to other cities globally in the future.
