South Africa’s hospitality sector to unite at third annual Think Tank in Sandton

The Think Tank will focus on key topics including workforce development, infrastructure enhancement, sustainable tourism practices, and improving guest experiences.

SOUTH AFRICA – On 8 August 2025, key figures from South Africa’s hospitality industry will assemble at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton for the third edition of the Hospitality Industry Think Tank.

The event is designed as a collaborative forum where industry professionals come together to explore innovative approaches and collective solutions aimed at driving sustainable tourism growth across the country.

Since its launch in 2023 by Dream Hotels & Resorts, the Think Tank has quickly become a prominent fixture in South Africa’s hospitality calendar.

It draws participation from a broad spectrum of industry players, fostering open dialogue and shared learning to address common challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities within the tourism sector.

A notable aspect of this year’s gathering is its philanthropic focus: all proceeds will be directed to Touching Dreams, a charitable organization committed to uplifting communities and preserving natural habitats affected by tourism activities.

This emphasis on social and environmental responsibility reflects the sector’s growing awareness of the need to balance economic development with sustainable practices.

The 2025 event is supported by a diverse group of partners, including Wyndham Hotels, Infrateq Africa, Profit Room, Assa Abloy, Sabre, Legacy Hotel Group, Beekman Group, Dream Hotels and Resorts, Valor Africa, Sondela, Club Mykonos, Peermont, DGB, Painted Wolf Wines, and Sun International.

It also benefits from the endorsement of major industry associations such as SATSA, TBCSA, Fedhasa, and VOASA, highlighting a unified commitment to advancing the sector.

Adding to the event’s importance, the Minister of Tourism is expected to attend, signaling strong government involvement and alignment with the industry’s objectives.

The Think Tank will focus on key topics including workforce development, infrastructure enhancement, sustainable tourism practices, and improving guest experiences.

By encouraging collaboration across public and private sectors, the event aims to chart a course for a resilient and inclusive tourism industry that can adapt to evolving global trends.

As South Africa continues to build its reputation as a leading travel destination, this Think Tank offers a vital platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and collectively shape the future of the hospitality industry for the benefit of communities and businesses nationwide.
