Nine of the newly acquired properties were formerly part of the Hotel Campanile portfolio and are spread across key business and leisure destinations including Birmingham, Bradford, Dartford, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Swindon.
UK – Travelodge is significantly reinforcing its presence across the UK with the strategic acquisition of eleven new hotel properties across various cities in the country, a move that signals the group’s continued momentum in the budget hospitality sector.
With these additions, the company’s national footprint edges closer to 600 hotels, reflecting its broader mission to provide affordable, quality accommodation in prime urban and regional locations.
Nine of the newly acquired properties were formerly part of the Hotel Campanile portfolio and are spread across key business and leisure destinations including Birmingham, Bradford, Dartford, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Swindon.
Collectively, these nine sites add 951 rooms to the Travelodge portfolio.
Of these, five hotels have been acquired on a freehold basis, while the remaining four will operate under long-leasehold agreements—demonstrating a flexible and strategic approach to asset management and long-term investment.
In addition to the Campanile acquisitions, Travelodge has signed contracts for two more hotels in Bromsgrove and Wakefield.
The Bromsgrove property, a 43-room hotel previously operating under the Ibis brand, has been leased for 25 years and is currently undergoing a full refurbishment.
It is expected to reopen as a Travelodge hotel by May, bringing updated facilities and brand-standard interiors to guests in the region.
Similarly, the Wakefield hotel, which previously functioned as an independent property, will add 74 rooms to the chain’s offering.
It is also being upgraded under a 25-year lease agreement and will relaunch as a fully branded Travelodge hotel in August, in line with the group’s latest design and amenity standards.
These additions follow the recent reopening of a fully refurbished Travelodge in Bromley town centre, another property converted from the Ibis portfolio.
All newly acquired hotels will undergo extensive refurbishments to align them with Travelodge’s contemporary brand standards, including updated interiors, improved guest amenities, and streamlined operational features.
This latest phase of expansion underscores Travelodge’s long-term growth strategy focused on estate optimisation, market diversification, and increased regional coverage.
By investing in well-located properties and modernising them to meet evolving customer expectations, the brand is set to strengthen its appeal among business and leisure travellers looking for reliable and budget-friendly accommodation throughout the UK.
