Desert & Delta Safaris, Savanna Expeditions transform historic Khwai River Lodge into Sediba Sa Rona

The lodge will feature 15 Luxury Tents, including a two-bedroom Luxury Family Tent, each with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor decks overlooking the Khwai River, offering uninterrupted wildlife views.

BOTSWANA – Desert & Delta Safaris has partnered with Botswana citizen-owned Savanna Expeditions to elevate one of Botswana’s first exclusive photographic safari lodges, formerly Khwai River Lodge.

Sediba Sa Rona, formerly known as Khwai River Lodge, pays homage to the Khwai River while reinforcing Desert & Delta Safaris’ dedication to sustainable tourism and economic empowerment through local partnerships.

By maintaining the original lodge’s footprint and capacity, the redevelopment minimizes environmental impact, exemplifying responsible tourism in the Okavango Delta.

Beyond its stunning setting, Sediba Sa Rona is positioned to offer industry-leading safari experiences while driving positive change in Botswana.

Fully operated by Desert & Delta Safaris, the lodge will open its doors on 16 March 2026, marking a new era for the Khwai Concession.

Guests can expect the same high standards of service and luxury that define the company’s existing properties.

Sediba Sa Rona is set to be one of the Khwai region’s most spectacular lodges, located at the meeting point of iconic ecosystems. Bordering Moremi Game Reserve and the eastern fan of the Okavango Delta, the Khwai Concession is an essential wildlife corridor.

Its diverse landscapes of floodplains, rivers, savannahs, and woodlands provide extraordinary game-viewing opportunities.

Desert & Delta Safaris is renowned for curating safari journeys that blend luxury, adventure, and sustainability. Sediba Sa Rona will embody this philosophy with modern designs, natural materials, and striking architectural features.

The lodge will feature 15 Luxury Tents, including a two-bedroom Luxury Family Tent, each with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor decks overlooking the Khwai River, offering uninterrupted wildlife views.

The main areas will include a swimming pool, an open-air fire deck, elevated viewing platforms, a bar, a spa, and al fresco dining spaces, where guests can enjoy communal meals or private dining upon request.

Expansive views will ensure a continuous connection with nature.

Activities at Sediba Sa Rona include twice-daily game drives and optional night drives. Seasonal mokoro excursions along the Khwai River provide a traditional perspective of the delta, while bird watching offers an unforgettable experience for enthusiasts.

Guests can also request a day trip to Moremi Game Reserve.

For a unique perspective, scenic helicopter flights over the Khwai Concession will showcase its intricate waterways and abundant wildlife. Conducted with doors off for optimal photography, these flights offer an unforgettable aerial safari (surcharges apply).

Adding to the experience, Desert & Delta Safaris provides specialist guiding services and has introduced Epic Experiences, a collection of customizable itineraries for exclusive safari adventures.
