INDIA – Tata Group’s hospitality arm, Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), has signed the 65-key Palitana Palace in Gujarat under its iconic Taj brand, meant to enhance IHCL’s luxury portfolio and strengthen its presence in the region.
IHCL has announced the launch of Taj Palitana, a 65-key luxury hotel that will seamlessly combine historical charm with contemporary elegance.
The property will offer opulent rooms and suites, alongside premium amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty eatery, a lounge, a gym, a pool, and a spa.
Designed to accommodate the rising demand for social and wedding events, the Palitana Palace will feature a 3,000 sq. ft. ballroom, adaptable meeting spaces, and landscaped outdoor lawns.
Additionally, the restoration of the Palace will include a curated collection of royal art and historical artifacts, further enhancing its heritage appeal.
Situated in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, Palitana is a prominent spiritual and cultural hub known for its architectural and historical significance.
This development follows the recent launch of two new IHCL properties on Diu Island under its SeleQtions and Gateway brands, featuring 33 and 103 rooms, respectively.
IHCL, a subsidiary of Tata Group, currently operates a portfolio of 263 hotels across four continents, spanning 12 countries and over 100 locations, with 75 properties in the pipeline.
Puneet Chhatwal, IHCL’s Managing Director and CEO, expressed pride in the partnership with His Highness Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja of Rajkot, stating that integrating the Palitana Palace under the Taj brand aligns with the company’s commitment to heritage preservation and expanding its collection of palaces, havelis, and forts.
In line with its strategic expansion, IHCL is also making its debut in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, with the signing of Taj Wellington Mews on Al Marjan Island.
Set to feature 336 luxury hotel apartments, the property will strengthen the company’s international presence.
Highlighting Ras Al Khaimah’s growing appeal, Chhatwal noted that the emirate’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, and ongoing infrastructure advancements position it as a rising tourism hotspot with the potential to reshape the Middle East’s hospitality sector.
Founded in 1902, IHCL is India’s largest hospitality company by market capitalization and owns brands such as Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions, Ginger, and Gateway.
