Grubhub integrates with Olo Dispatch to expand delivery options

GLOBAL – US-based food delivery platform Grubhub has integrated with restaurant technology provider Olo Dispatch to enhance delivery services for orders from its restaurant clients’ websites and apps.

Olo Dispatch, known for selecting the most efficient delivery service providers using automated matching technology, aims to offer restaurants fast and cost-effective order deliveries.

The integration with Grubhub will enhance this process by expanding the network of third-party delivery service providers, allowing for a more seamless experience.

This move focuses on strengthening direct customer relationships and providing a branded delivery experience through restaurants’ direct ordering channels.

Kyle Emmett, Grubhub’s senior director of retail media and merchant solutions, highlighted the growing demand for digital ordering and delivery across both third-party and owned channels.

He expressed pride in the expansion of support for merchant partners and increased earning opportunities for Grubhub’s delivery partners, noting that Grubhub’s nationwide delivery network helps merchants optimize their operations, reduce costs, and better meet customer needs.

Previously, Grubhub and Olo collaborated to integrate Grubhub orders directly into restaurants’ point-of-sale systems via Olo Rails.

The latest integration with Olo Dispatch is an advancement of this partnership, offering restaurant brands greater flexibility and scalability in delivery options.

This development follows the announcement in November 2024 that Wonder plans to acquire Grubhub from Just Eat Takeaway.com for US$650 million, a move expected to help Wonder make food more accessible by uniting restaurants, groceries, and meal kits into a single app.

Grubhub CEO Howard Migdal expressed excitement about the acquisition, believing it would bring more value to diners, merchants, and delivery partners, while reinforcing Grubhub’s role in connecting restaurants with new customers and introducing diners to new cuisines.

After the acquisition, all Wonder locations will be available on Grubhub for third-party delivery.

Additionally, a partnership between Starbucks and Grubhub began in June 2024, with Starbucks Delivery being launched in select U.S. states and plans for nationwide availability by August. Customers can place and track orders via the Grubhub app and website.

Kacie Gonzalez, Olo’s vice president of product partnerships, emphasized that Olo’s collaboration with Grubhub adds value by providing restaurants with more options for delivery service providers, enhancing flexibility, reliability, and competitive pricing, while also helping them grow their direct ordering channels and maintain customer relationships.
